Just One Cup

Knock at the door, interrupted the silence
Can I borrow some sugar? And perhaps a tea bag?
I seem to be out today.
Come in, come in, would you like it right now,
Or would you rather share a cup with me?
No, no - it's no trouble at all,
The kettle's already boiled and ready to go.
Take a seat and make yourself at home.
Just one cup, I don't want to intrude,
And interrupt what you have going on.
I've seen you around, stalking the halls,
Where are you from, what do you do,
And do you live here alone?
I've noticed you too as we crossed on the stairs,
That is an interesting perfume you wear.
Sugar, or milk or do you take lemon,
Are you too bitter or too sweet?
What do you think, when looking at me,
But be careful with my fragile heart.
Lemon it is, to balance the scales,
Just a drop, in case my eyes deceive.
It is different here, than I had assumed,
Cleaner and calmer than I had thought.
Did you imagine the mess as you tapped at the door,
Or have you been contemplating it for long?
I'll let you know, before I go,
If you pour a second, please.

I don't understand all this stuff people add to tea.

Ha! Yeah, I am pretty basic with it - though I don't mind a bit of honey. However, tea is best consumed out of fine bone china - sounds weird, but it tastes so much better!

I doubt I will ever get the chance to prove you wrong on that. I drink my beer straight out the bottle, so fine bone china is a whole different level for me!

All good stories begin this way. You ask for a cup of coffee or some candy. You're invited, and a friendly conversation ensues. You become a good friend, companion, or lover. :)

I agree. So many are looking for extraordinary, when the beauty is in the ordinary.

Interesting dialogue that smacks of friendliness and companionship, qualities which are both lacking in our society today. Circumstances in our world today have drained people's joy and relationships are now fraught with needless friction. A friendship that can change someone's life can start with something as trivial as a cup of coffee.

It doesn't take much to shift direction - we just usually end up not shifting by choice, choosing to repeat the same steps over and over.

Meeting of value, and meaning, space for reflection where we share great conversations delighting palates, maybe with a rich cup of coffee, tea or chocolate, it's always a good start🍫☕

Are you a tea or coffee drinker? I think a lot of coffee comes from around your area, right?

i love coffee, I drink tea from time to time, and we have the best coffee in the world on my continent Mr. Taraz. I hope your leg health is progressing very well.

A knock on the door and an invite for tea can lead to a whole new world of conversation and understanding, especially in my country :)

You guys are big tea drinkers, right? I see quite a few men here in café that sit around and just talk a lot over cups of tea. There is a mix of course, but a lot are Turkish.

can I borrow some sugar? :)

No - Carbs are bad.

We can be kind to strangers too. Kindness doesn’t cost a dime
If we find ourselves in that state, we should try to be kind

If someone isn't kind, they don't get much of my time.

The line about lemon to balance the scales hit me. In work I tend to weigh feeling against numbers, and and that small drop shifting reALity felt true. The neighbor expecting a mess then finding calm also lands, like how a quiet cup of te;a can take the edge off between strangers :) If the first pour is honest, the second pour almost pours itself.
