Sometimes I see a post with “Max Accepted Payout $100,000”. What is the purpose of this since it does not seem possible a post could garner that much? Is it some “secret handshake” kind of deal?

I'm yet to see a post earn that much. I think it's set to be some kind of maximum value. I'm hoping to see more hive front ends, particularly those that promote short content, to set max-value to much lower amounts.
Right now, d.buzz sets max-value to $1 or something.
