My parents werent strict. But a very conservative. I was given the freedom to go out with friends and come late in the night as long as I follow their instructions for my life. Like I had to take engneering for my bachelors even though I didnt want to, cause it was important for them to tell in the society that, "My Son is a Mechanical Engineer".
I had relationships with the opposite sex, but never let them get a scent of it. Cause I don't know how they would react, being conservative parents. They didnt have any problem me having female friends come over for my birthday party.
I would rate my parents 3-4 on strictness.
