How does all this work?

in About PeakD2 years ago

Hi all! Hoping someone can point me in the direction of how things work here on PeakD. This is my first introduction to the HIVE blockchain and trying to figure it all out. I looked for some kind of documentaion on PeakD but not seeing anyting on the site. Realizing there's a lot here and really have no idea what everything I'm looking at means and how to interact with PeakD. Anyone know if there's some documentation I can read or some good articles for getting started here and learning about the community?

Thanks!

  1. Welcome to your blog :)
  2. PeakD, like HIVE, splits posts into different communities which can be thought of as Sub-Reddits, Facebook Groups, or Old School Forums.
  3. Ask people. This place isn't an echo chamber; despite what you might think.
  4. If you see something on someone's article and you wonder how they did it, ask.

Enjoy your time here :)

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know where to start as far as any questions go. I just see all these stats and numbers. There's promotions, boosts, votes, reputation, voting mana, etc. So just curious how everything all works here and fits together.

Find the communities that relate to your personal interests. Just like other corners of the Internet, you'll see that there are other people interested in the same thing.

I regularly speak to people on HIVE about my interests: Photography (via the Photography Lovers Community), Art & Artists (via the various Art communities such as Alien Art Hive, On Chain Art, and maaaany others) as well as gaming, via HIVE Gamers.

There's people who tend to take one of two approaches on HIVE.

  1. Those that are self referential, and just post content about HIVE, on HIVE. My opinion is that this stuff doesn't as much value as the 2nd category.
  2. Those that want to share their art work, stories, photos, or just general life updates.

We are in same page, I find it difficult to post my Introduction for the past 4days now

Hi there. I sense you're getting a little frustrated here on Hive. I get it and we've all been there. There's a learning curve and it's frustrating. But, I believe it's worth it to figure out Hive. If you have any questions, ping me with the username @crrdlx and I'll try to help.
