RE: New Models + New Stats

All good updates and improvements to the site.
I'm just wondering what has happened with the ads? They've been gone for a few weeks and didn't see any results or updates.

I was hoping that we would get an update after the first few months with actual results and revenue generated.

Sort:

Actual results were not great. I feel like sharing it would be a bit demoralizing 😅

I would still love to know and I'm sure that others would too in terms of how many views, what countries had the biggest effect on it and what kind of revenue was earned per day.

It might be poor now but at a bigger user base it could become worth it in the future.

Was there a lot of work to keep them running or just not covering the cost of running them?

The problem is that the user experience was worse for every user. And at the same time the revenues were not even good enough to cover our server costs. And our servers are pretty cheap 😅

It didn't affect my user experience. The ads were small and unobtrusive but the revenue sounds crap. I would have expected it to make some money from a decent sized site like yours.

Was that with opt in or opt out for users to experience the ads?

It's a shame the numbers were so bad. If it was anything reasonable it would be a great base to build from and try to increase the numbers every month.
Get people sharing more content, more eyes on our eco system and more revenue every month buying hive from the markets. Make it a community challenge to get those numbers up. 💪

certainly worth a post. Will do

That would be great jarvie.
Ads have always been something that a lot of us wanted to try and generate revenue for the ecosystem.

The fact that you gave up says that the numbers must have been very poor. So I would love to see more details on how poor it was and why. 😂

We tested and it was not worth.
Maybe @asgarth or @jarvie can tell you more.
