New Hive Account Sign Up options on PeakD - introducing Hivedex.io

Whether you are a new Hive user or a long-time community member, we all have different reasons to create a new Hive account. In PeakD.com, there are three Sign Up options that you can choose from including a new project we just integrated and are announcing as being part of the site.

There are currently three available sign up options for PeakD.com:

• Hive On Board
• Hivedex.io
• Splinterlands

Each sign up option has different perks and costs that we will be highlighting further in this post.

To get to these options you must be logged out.

Hive On Board

First option is by creating an account through the @hiveonboard platform.

• Hive On Board is a FREE way to sign up for a new Hive account.
• Code is delivered by Text/SMS for verification
• You can use it once and there are requirements (phone number)

After selecting the Hive On Board option, the pop-up where you can input the account name along with the steps for account creation will show.

Aside from the ability to be able to create a new account on Hive On Board, the platform also has great resources to learn more about Hive. So if you are a Hive user, it is best to take a look at the "Learn" tab as well.

After proceeding from the username selection pop-up, you will be redirected to this interface. Make sure that you read all the information and store your keys properly.

Hivedex.io (NEW)

A new sign up option which is also a popular one is creating a new Hive account by using Hivedex.io.

• Hivedex.io lets you create an account anonymously for just $1.49
• Supports all popular crypto payment methods
• There is no limit to times you can use it
• They are much safer for generating keys than competitors (we trust them)

After selecting the Hivedex.io sign up option, the pop-up containing more information to better understand your Hive account & keys will show up. Read it thoroughly and follow the steps to start creating your Hive account.

After following the steps from the pop-up, you will eventually be redirected to the cryptomus page where you can pay for the account creation with lots of cryptocurrency options to choose from.

Splinterlands

Another option to create a new Hive account is through Splinterlands, a digital trading card game in the Hive ecosystem. While this option costs $10, the Hive account that you created will give you one summoner's spellbook to play Splinterlands.

If you are not yet familiar with Splinterlands, you should definitely check out their website: https://splinterlands.com/

So if you are planning to play Splinterlands as well, this is probably the best Hive account creation option for you as you will be able to use your Splinterlands account with summoner's spellbook to interact with the Hive ecosystem.

Which sign up option is the right one for you?

Well, it really depends on your preference. As we've mentioned earlier, if you are planning to play Splinterlands with the spellbook anyway, then creating a Hive account through Splinterlands is probably the most suitable for you.

However, if you prefer free account creation then Hive on board is probably the best. As for those who gives importance to anonymity and various cryptocurrency payment options, Hivedex.io is probably the best sign up option.

PeakD should implement a sigh in option with email and password, same as Splinterlands does, and handle everything in the background. Allow users to claim and change keys later.

Also the main issue is how to interact with the social part of the chain. The user will have to pick a username and have an account. But at that point we'll be a custodial provider with higher security concern compared to the current status.

If the answer is to prevent abuse, that does not hold up. In all the years Steemit / Hive have been around that has never been necessary.

PeakD does not collect anything. Hiveonboard is an external service that we integrate to offer free account creation.

Yes, however the third party that is used for the SMS verification will be gathering data. It is just a given these days that this is being done because of the push to digital id us.

There's no such thing as a free lunch. It comes at a cost, that being ID'd.

Yes, it is the user's choice, but I'm surprised that you've offered that choice.

One of the things people say is a hindrance to Hive growth is sign-up, but there seem to be good options. Some of us can create lots of accounts anyway. It's vital that new users understand about keeping their keys secure. They should change them if anyone else set up the account.

I'm late to this... but it would seem like the paid sign up on HiveDex is the PERFECT place to incorporate a QR to pay with Lightning.

If the invoice is paid, you'll get HBD to the value of $1.49 sent to the account hivedex or whatever hive account you want and it will contain the message name-of-new-account or you can put a UUID in there.
