AI Tennis Robot As Practice Partner

in STEMGeeks16 hours ago

Hi everyone. I came across this video from the ShanghaiEye Youtube channel. It features an AI robot that serves as a practice partner for tennis players in Shenzhen, China. Shenzhen is a megacity in the south part of China, near Hong Kong and Macau. Shenzhen does have a lot of good technology and manufacturing there.

ACEMATE Tennis Robot Machine

Instead of having a hitting partner, you have this robot that holds tennis balls and shoots them out.

This robot does track the players movement as well as the ball movement. There is a net attached to the robot as the robot tries to catch the ball from the player. Note that the robot does not catch every ball (if you watch the video).

From the video description.

Data from the Acematetennis website shows that the product retails for about 2500 U.S. dollars but for pre-orders it’s on sale for around 1600.

What are your thoughts on this ACEMATE robot? Is this cool?

Thank you for reading.
