Congrats, you will get much enjoyment from the Raspberry Pi. I have 13 models collected over 8 years that they have been out, 1 monitors some wired temperature sensors, 1 monitors some wireless temperature sensors, 1 is on a tripod with camera module pointing out the front of the house so I can see what the weather is doing when down in the man cave. I am starting to build a simple Raspberry Pi controlled robot so that I can learn more python, I will be posting about that.
they do look like an enjoyable hobby, I am hoping it will keep me busy for our winter months in Alaska since I really don't like the cold.
