Hello hive friends wherever you are, I hope you all have a nice day today. This is my first post in the #Pinmapple community, hope I'm well received in this great community.
Lhokseumawe is the name of a municipality in the province of Aceh, within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. The city of Lhokseumawe has a fairly long coastline and is directly adjacent to several neighboring countries, and with its long coastline it can function as a liaison between regions because as we know the sea is one of the most effective and efficient means of connectivity between humans.
On this occasion, I will share my travel experiences to several new tourist destinations in Lhokseumawe City, namely Jagu Beach and Japanese Caves. I also took the time to stop for a while and rest while enjoying the breeze in the garden of the Islamic Center Mosque in Lhokseumawe City before continuing my journey to the Japanese Cave. Even though in the last two years the covid pandemic has hit the world, and the city of Lhokseumawe has also been affected, the locations of the two tourist destinations are still visited by visitors, even though they are not as busy as they used to be. Even though these two tourist sites had been completely closed by the local government, but now they have been reopened.
JAGU BEACH
The results of my search for figures in the local village where Jagu Beach is located, the name or designation of Jagu is taken from the abbreviation of two village names, namely Kampung Jawa Village and South Hagu Village. This beach was also born from the idea of a poverty alleviation program / slum village in the two villages. It is a program that deserves to be highly appreciated. And this beach was officially opened to the public in October 2021.
Initially this area was a densely populated neighborhood, then slowly turned into a more orderly construction of concrete roads that could be traversed by various vehicles and even up to four wheels. The stone dam that broke the waves was also built by the government, so that it can be a place to relax for visitors who come at the same time it can be a comfortable place for residents who have a hobby of fishing from the seafront to try new sensations in this place.
Well, to go to this Jagu Beach, there are several alternative roads that can be passed. However, to make it easier to reach, tourists should be able to use the route from Lhokseumawe City Center. That is through the route at the Port Security Unit (KP3) Lhokseumawe. This is where the concrete road began to stretch across the two villages. However, it should also be noted that this location has just opened and has not been fully addressed like tourist attractions in general. There are no Instagramable lodges for tourists to relax yet. Culinary traders are still selling modestly on the side of the road that stretches. Even so, various foods and soft drinks are available, including roasted corn, boiled peanuts, grilled meatballs and also dumplings.
And for the past few months, this beach has now become the location of choice or priority in the afternoon for residents of Lhokseumawe City. And not only that, domestic tourists who come to visit Lhokseumawe also often stop by to enjoy the afternoon atmosphere at the beach.
ISLAMIC CENTER MOSQUE
Right in the middle of Lhokseumawe City, stands majestically a large mosque that is the pride of its citizens. This mosque is called the Islamic Center which is located on Jalan T. Hamzah Bendahara, Simpang Empat Village, Banda Sakti District. This mosque is a place of worship for the Muslim community in Lhokseumawe City. The mosque which has a building area of 16,475 m2 which was built on a land area of 33,748 m2 consists of 3 three floors, and the building is dominated by a golden color which is the grandest mosque in Lhokseumawe City. The mosque is also predicted to be able to accommodate as many as 10,000 worshipers in the implementation of their prayers.
Construction of this mosque began in 2001 and was stopped several times due to the procession of changing regional heads. Although this mosque is not yet fully completed, and this can be seen in some of the inside and outside of the mosque which are still under construction. However, it does not reduce the beauty of this Islamic Center Mosque.
Every visitor who comes to this mosque, either to perform prayers or just to rest because he is tired from a long journey, will be amazed by its splendor. This mosque was built with a typical Middle Eastern concept, we can see this from the pillars to the walls of the mosque which are dominated by a combination of gold and white colors. The decoration of various other ornaments further adds to the beauty of this mosque. The splendor of the Islamic Center can also be seen from its domes that soar into the sky. However, this is what is slightly different from the typical Middle Eastern color, namely the blue color of the dome of the Islamic Center Mosque complete with a small white pattern decoration.
In this mosque there is also a large garden planted with various kinds of flowers and trees, so for those women who can't do it for syar'i reasons, they can rest in the garden. Like me today, take advantage of the garden of the Islamic Center Mosque to rest for a while before continuing the next trip ha ha..
JAPANESE CAVE
The next second tourist destination is the Japanese Cave. Local people call it or know it as the Japanese Cave, but the local government gave the name of this tourist location as Taman Ngieng Jioh (Garden of Far View). Yes, as the name suggests, this cave is a relic of the Japanese, who during the war period in 1942 had colonized Indonesia, including Lhokseumawe-Aceh. This cave is one of the silent witnesses of the cruel story of the wartime era that was built by forced labor by local residents and prisoners of war.
This Japanese cave is located in the village of Blang Panyang, Muara Satu District, Lhokseumawe City. It is about 10 km from Lhokseumawe City Center, but to reach this Japanese cave tourist location is very easy because it is very close to the Banda Aceh-Medan highway. Although the location of this cave is on a hill, precisely at an altitude of 100m above sea level, there are many public vehicles that pass on the Banda Aceh-Medan highway that will give us a ride to get to that place. So it's not difficult isn't it he he he..
The cave itself isn't the only attraction of the place. Once we are there, the beautiful natural panorama around it is presented which is very amazing. From the top of the hill we can enjoy the breeze that blows and see how beautiful God's creation is. So, it is not surprising that the Japanese army used to choose this place as their base of defense. And if we shift to another point a bit, we can see the houses of the locals neatly lined up below. Then on the other hand, we can also see the sparkling blue sea water of the Malacca Strait and also the gas refineries owned by PT Arun which has now changed its name to PT. Perta Arun Gas. It really is a location that is very pleasing to the eye and has many spots that are very suitable for us to take selfies.
This Japanese cave has a length of 50-60m. The entrance of this cave is only 2 x 3m in size and is not much different from other Japanese caves scattered throughout Indonesia. This cave is also equipped with several rooms, such as a reconnaissance room, kitchen room, dining room, bedroom and also logistics. According to local residents, this cave was built solely for defense from enemy attacks. This cave is also mentioned as a place for enemy scouts who come from the high seas.
Well, to enter this Japanese cave tourist attraction, visitors are required to buy a ticket for IDR 5,000 or for 0.3 US$. Local residents also mentioned that many visitors from Medan and a number of other regencies/cities in Aceh often stop at this tourist location. It could be out of curiosity about how the cave actually looks and also want to know about its history.
However, it's a shame that the current Covid-19 pandemic is still not about to leave us. As a result, this Japanese cave tourist site was completely closed by the Lhokseumawe City Government, although it has now been reopened. However, the impact is still there, because when I visited this place the visitors were still very quiet. There were only a few families and lovers who were enjoying the beauty of nature and chatting happily there. We pray that this covid-19 will pass quickly.
Thank you,
