Wolfpassing Castle was given its current appearance by Count Ferdinand Auersperg in the middle of the 18th century. The castle itself is a stately four-storey, four-winged building with five-storey round corner towers with pointed conical roofs, a two-storey arcaded courtyard and a baroque chapel.
The property, which had been imperial property since 1834, was used as a remontenanstalt of the Imperial and Royal War Ministry and as a convalescent home for officers. Purchased by the state in 1910, it was used again as a military hospital during the First World War, and from 1929 was run as a federal educational and research institute for dairy farming.
Today, the castle is home to a cozy farm café with a farm store.

It's been a while since I went castle-hopping in Austria. It's actually been close to two years... Back in early 2024, when I visited my parents here, I roamed the area and checked out some pretty cool spots.
It’s wild how many castles are scattered across Austria, especially around here. It’s also awesome to see how well preserved or restored they are. Back in my country, we don’t value our history nearly as much, which sucks.
Unfortunately, the castle was closed to the public, but the gates were open, so we could still check it out from the outside. The place is huge, but honestly, it’s not that impressive.
I’ve seen way better castles in this area than this one. That said, I loved the surroundings, with the trees rocking their vibrant autumn colors. There was even a squirrel tailing us the whole time.
She was too damn quick to catch on camera for a few shots. Maybe next time...
Anyway, I’m not gonna bore you with a bullshit description of the place. I’ll let the pics do the talking. Hope you dig ‘em and have a great Sunday.
Thanks for your attention,
Adrian
