In November 2021 my wife and me got by random an offer to buy a flat in a house in a small village in the hills of the "Eifel". This is a region in West Germany, which is in a national park, 40 km from our home.
We visited the flat and the area and came to the conclusion, that we should not miss this solely chance.
So we accepted the offer, took a credit and bought the flat. Here is the house:
It is old and needs some love, but it is very beautifull.
When you search in google-maps for "Einruhr, Simmerath", you get this map. Our house is "Ferienwohnung Waldblick" (Heilsteinstraße 39):
We have the last house, before the forest and therefore the national park starts.
Our First Holliday In Einruhr
This week was our first time, that my wife and me stayed there for several days.
In the mornings we worked on the renovation of the flat and in the afternoons we had some great walks and hikes through the area. Our goal is to rent the flat to others.

Tuesday, 2022/04/19
Last tuesday evening we climbed the hill behind the house and watched the sunset. Below you can see the village "Einruhr":
Wednesday, 2022/04/20
On Wednesday we had a 16 km long hike.
Here I show our tour and the stations with the pictures:
We started at our house and went to the top of the hill (2). There is a gras area wtih sheeps:
Then we walked to "Wollseifen" (3), an abandoned village, which was bombed in WW2 and afterwards was turned into a drill ground by the allies.
Then our tour took us to the "Urftstaumauer (4):
We found a beautifull rock (5), where we had a rest:
Then finaly, with hot feet, we came back to our village. There is a bench with a beatifull view (6) to the city:
Thursday
Einruhr is in the middle of a lot of attractions:
On Thursday evening we had a short walk to "Schöne Aussicht". Here is a view from the west part of the river "Rur". One can see the village Einruhr:
Friday
Originally we only wanted to stay until thursday, but we really love this area, so we stayed a day longer. After some wood chopping ...
... and house cleaning ...
... we walked through the village and the near field.
There are a lot of small and beatifull places, for example like "Herberts Eck", just a bench with some very lovely stuff:
There one can sit above the village and unwind (Die Seele baumeln lassen).

We haven't finished the renovating yet. And we are beginners, which means we don't have experience with leasing the flat out. So you can contact me, but I think I can offer the flat only after summer 2022.

Conclusion
Einruhr is a very beatifull small village in a very beatifull corner of West Germany. I really enjoyed the last days there and I am looking forward for the next times I will be there (Next week I am going to travel there by bike). It is a little bit touristic, but even in the easter hollidays, the village was "sleepy", so you can get a lot of bedrooms and places in the restaurants there.
I am still flashed from this small holliday (Meine Seele ist jetzt völlig durchgebaumelt ;-))

Da es mich aus Kroatien heraus, über die Karawanken hinweg, hinauf in die Eifel treiben wird, halte ich für eher wenig wahrscheinlich, obwohl der Effzeh mein Herzens-Verein ist. Doch die Tatsache, mit Menschen unterschiedlichster Nationen und Wohnorten im ständigen Kontakt zu sein, legt die Möglichkeit parat, euren Link in das eine oder andere Postfach zu legen. Das bedeutet konkret: auch der Balkan hält Augen und Ohren offen, ob sich Einruhr als Destination in eine Reise einbauen lässt. 😧
