•Do you ever feel like you need a place to “get away for a while” from your routine , but don't want to go far from the city ??
•Well, this time I found another hidden gem that was once a hit, but now it's even quieter and more beautiful .. It's called Sri Gethuk - a waterfall hidden behind the karst cliffs of Gunungkidul ..
•Unexpectedly, the afternoon trip became one of the best healing experiences I've ever had. Especially when riding the gethek down the river, it felt like entering another world.
That afternoon, my wife and I wanted to take a leisurely walk not too far from the city .. The choice fell to a place that I had really wanted to visit again for a long time: Sri Gethuk, one of Gunungkidul's hidden gems that always has its own charm ..
📍 The location is close, but it feels like an adventure!
It only takes a short trip from the center of Wonosari, we have arrived at the Sri Gethuk ecotourism area. When we just entered, we were immediately greeted with interesting information about the geological phenomenon of this waterfall. It turns out that the water source comes from 3 natural springs and flows over karst rocks. It's really cool that nature can create such a beautiful work.
🥾 Go down the path first...
From the entrance, we have to go down the path to the valley. But don't worry, the path is safe and surrounded by cool green trees. At the bottom, we are given two options to get to the waterfall:
- Take a gethek aka traditional wooden boat along the river
- Walk on the cliff path
🚣 I Choose Gethek - Because the View is Amazing!
Immediately I chose to ride a gethek so I could enjoy the view from above the water. And sure enough -- calm, cool, and beautiful! The river water flowed slowly, the green trees on either side, and the fading afternoon sky made the atmosphere more serene.
Plus, because I came quite late in the afternoon, this place was quiet. It felt like having a private tour 😄
💦 Arriving at the Waterfall - What a Peaceful Feeling
Arriving at the waterfall, the sound of roaring water immediately greeted us. **Sri Gethuk Waterfall falls from a high cliff, not too heavy, but enough to make your heart cool. Around the location there is also a flying fox ride, for those who like challenges. But I prefer to sit quietly and enjoy the atmosphere.
✨ Not Just About the Scenery, But About the Taste
For me, Sri Gethuk is not just about nature tourism. It's about quiet moments, a peaceful atmosphere, and nature that invites us to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life .. Sometimes, what we need is not a grand place, but something simple and sincere like this ..
