in Pinmapple11 months ago (edited)

Hey hive pinampple family,

Today I am sharing my memories while went to famous temple festival in Kerala. The temple is located in Kottayam and the temple name is Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple. It is one of the famous load shiva temple in Kerala.

The annual festival occurs more than 10 days and on the end days the entire temple and soundings was decor with flowers and nilavilakku (its oil filled candle made with coper, and we pour oil on it and use cloth to fire it). There is no electrical lights are there, only these nilavilakku spread the lights there.

On the last days the entire kottayam become on the festival mode all the roads closed for those days and no vehicle movement is allowed on that time. Even on the street, we can find the art work.

For these wonderful art creation, they mix colour with rice powder. In earlier, they are not using any artificial colours for getting different colour they are using natural resources only like juice from different flowers, fruits, and also they use leaf and charcoal for the different colour.

All the art should be based on Hindu mythology and believes. All the arts are highlights by the arrangements of nilavilakku around the drawings. It's take nearly 5 to 6 hours to complete one art.

These arts and light arrangement become more attractive because the local people consider it as completion. There are 4 doors from the temple towards north-south east and west. The people living on one direction become a group and these groups are taking care about the activities.

These arrangements continue till one kilometre around the temple. So many people from different locations will come there to see these wonderful arrangements. Its like a fusion of dark and golden lights. Even the nilavilakku in golden shade, it also reflected the light and make a wonderful colour tune all over there.

Not only the Nilavilakku they also use small mud containers to the same purpose and that is non as Chirath

We can also find some artist and performance also there. The local groups from different direction arranging these too.

We spent more than 3 hrs there and walk through all the four directions and take some photographs due to the big crowd we can take proper photographs. Finally, we went to some street food stalls and collect some snacks for us.

Am very excited these all those arrangements. I hope from my blog all of you may realise the beauty of that day. More than a traditional festival, I considered it's a festival of unity and happiness. There is no cast, no religion, on that day every one is trying to make it better.

Also, we can see the god statues made on coper, gold and other materials.
