Hi everyone :)
Hope to find you all well and healthy!

One more peek at one of those magical places that we are abundantly presented with, when the geographic point is the much acclaimed Costa Vicentina.
Upon arriving at the place, through the only road that gives direct access to "Praia da Ilha"(Island Beach), on the last straight road before arriving, it is already possible to see the famous "Ilha do Pessegueiro"(Pessegueiro Island), appear in the middle of the ocean, and where it is normal to find people in the middle of the road trying to get the best possible photo of that scene, which was the case, so we had to slow down a little, despite already going at a slow pace, until they noticed us and deviated.

Arriving at the beach in front of "Ilha do Pessegueiro", it is impossible not to be immediately amazed by the natural beauty of that small corner, with crystal clear waters and very peculiar rocks along the coast.
This region of the country is highlighted by a huge variety of geological formations, composed of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, which were formed and shaped from the Precambrian period to the present, being the reason for study with scientific, educational and tourist value.

By being present in this place, it is possible to perceive and understand the need to value all this geological heritage, and like long before me, someone also immediately noticed and understood this need, as is the example of the project "Geodiversidade do Alentejo e Algarve", whose reading allowed me to learn more about these characteristic places.

There in that place, there is also a building that stands out on the cliff, impossible to go unnoticed, despite its camouflaged tones in the landscape, with the name of "O Forte do Pessegueiro" (Pessegueiro Fort), this fortification was built in different phases over several years, being 1588 the year that the construction began, built with the aim of preventing corsairs from using it as an entry point in times of war and Roman invasions.

However, like any other fortification, ceasing to serve the purpose for which it was built, it becomes simply a historical landmark and of tourist interest, being classified as a Public Interest Property since 1957.
As we walk through the accessible area of the fort, it is possible to imagine the life of the soldiers and officers who remained there to watch over the coast, with an impressive view of the Atlantic Ocean, in that peaceful and isolated place, with preserved nature and a unique ecosystem.

On other occasions i had the opportunity to visit this place and share some records of that visit, but this time, like some of my last articles, i had the opportunity to make some aerial records, which gives a new perspective of the space, being possible get a broader and clearer visual understanding.

A visit to this place is absolutely mandatory for anyone passing by, it is an opportunity to learn about the history of the region, but also to enjoy a natural and fascinating setting, ideal for nature lovers, hikers, photographers, bathers, etc, but also for those who are simply looking for a place that provides moments of peace and contemplation, even on cloudy days, as was this case, which ended up giving an even more mysterious environment, with the landscape covered in mist and the dense air, creating a magical atmosphere that transports us back in time.

I make an effort to give the most realistic image of the place, although it is highly recommended to put your own feet there to really understand what is described here, and of course, this advice applies to all the places that are shared around here.
Nothing a good traveler doesn't know :P
That's all for today, i hope you enjoyed it and that you can visit one day :)

Always remember:

Value your time, because every fraction counts, and the price of anything is the amount of life you trade for it.
May the memories of the travels be eternalized in the photographs, and may the photographs transport us back to the travels ;)

Great photos of an amazing place. I love the shot with waves breaking on the rocks at the shore. It's a perfect place for that fortress as they could see far away in all directions in case of danger...

Thanks a lot for sharing!

My pleasure :) It´s a really cool place to visit and relax😎 Thank you for your nice words and support :)
