Trip to Alentejo - Ilhas Village - Arraiolos | Portugal

Hi everyone :)

Today is the day cycling, that's right, i left the comfortable base behind and grabbing one of the bicycles that were standing there collecting dust, i decided to do what i promised for a long time, take a brave bike ride, this time once on rough, irregular and slippery paths, full of small stones and holes.
The sun was already high and the heat was already burning the skin, breakfast was distant and now lunchtime was approaching, and then i thought, nothing better than a good ride to whet my appetite, so i said, see you soon, to those who stayed and took off.

The trip had barely begun and i heard a strange sound coming from behind and that followed me closely, so i looked back and there was Tinto, the dog of the owners who accompanied him all the way around, which by the way, was not very long lol, for the most varied reasons, starting with my physical condition :P
The exit of the house started right away with a climb towards the small village that was located a few meters further up and from an early age i realized that that path would not be made to pedal, but to push the bicycle up the hill.

In the middle i stopped to rest and catch a glimpse of the view, which by the way was magnificent, and while taking a picture i started to think that maybe i would have been smarter if i had gone on foot, so at least i didn't have to walk pushing the bike , but then i thought that on the way back it was always going down and then i got up to continue.
On the way, i passed through several sections of land where the scraps of sheep grazed, who certainly already knew Tinto and its capacity and taste in challenging them, some fled immediately while others remained immobile eating their herbs.

Finally arriving at the top of the hill, it was time to stop and rest "again" for another photo session, and right next to it was the Church where the inhabitants of that small village move to attend their religious ceremonies.
Until then, I hadn't seen anyone on the way beyond the sheep and Tinto that wouldn't let me go, but beyond the church, a series of houses began to appear in a row, facing the long valley below and that's where i headed, i reassembled the bike and as the terrain was already more regular and less inclined, it was already possible to take a few more rides and go in the other direction to see what was on the other side of the valley.

Along the way i passed through closed cafes, and old men accompanied by dogs saying goodbye to me. It is believed that this small and modest village called Ilhas "islands" was populated by people from the islands, in this case, from the islands of the Azores, hence the name. It is known the colonization that the Azorean archipelago had, being a part of it of Alentejo origin.

On the way i also passed Mr. Joaquim that we had met the day before, and there he was in the middle of the field with his tractor picking up bales of straw, i still waved but he did not see me, so i continued on to the other end where i returned to stop to take some more pictures.

At this moment the sun was already burning and it was time to go back to help prepare lunch, and my luck was the number of descents that i would find along the way, because otherwise i would only arrive at lunchtime...
The landscapes of the Alentejo are breathtaking, not only for the beauty of roasted rom, but also for the temperatures that are felt, but despite not getting along very well with the heat, the Alentejo is still one of the my favorite places.
I just love it.

That´s all for today :)

See you soon
Thank you for watching :)
