Today I share my first post about the last visit to Stoos. It wasn't really nice weather but we still made a short trip. On the Stoos mountain you can enjoy a great view, you can hike, make sports and be fascinated by nature. A car-free village nestled at 1300 m with about only 150 people live all year round. This paradise place you can reached with the steepest funicular in the world goes up 110m in 100m of horizontal distance. It is definitely a must try experience if you are in this area. ->110% = 47,7°->The entire trip takes about 7 minutes with breaththaking views of the sourrounding landscapes. Is not only a mode of transportation but also a symbol of ingenuity and innovation only with 11 Chf. you are on board!
To get to the Stoosbahn funicular, you can reach from the town of Schwyz with the bus 501 or with the car to the base station in the village of Schlattli. During the winter you have in this area more than 35 km of ski pistes. In summer a great hike features views over ten lakes and any Alpine peaks, just you must have some good shoes with you.
Riding with the funicular up to the Stoos is very exciting and alike amazing, you feel a gentle incline with the views outside the windows gradually changeing from the valley to the mountain scenery, with several tunnels through the mountains on the way, it is an unique experience to visit this place.
It is a vacation paradise in summer as well as in winter.
I have to say that even though it was my second time on the funicular i was a bit scared, but everything was fine as soon as the furnicular have started.
A lot of stories iluminating aspects of the past here with the charming little chapel, also many hotels and restaurants can be found in this region. It was a rainy day but still full of new memories.
