Hiking in the Pine Forest of Guama in Yaracuy

in Worldmappin2 years ago
This weekend I relived my younger years when as a photographer I went with my son on a boy scout style excursion to the pine forest located in the city of Guama in the state of Yaracuy, Venezuela, where we live.

Guama is known as the Athens of Yaracuy due to the high rate of professionals that are found there, as well as for being the place where the hero and former President of Venezuela José Antonio Páez lived part of his childhood and youth.

Depending on the city of the country where you are you can get there, it is located between Chivacoa and San Felipe, so if you come from the center must pass through Chivacoa but if you come from the capital of the country, or Caracas must cross San Felipe.

The road is good so going in the vehicle is an option that was the one we took, but if you do not have it take public transport to the capital of Yaracuy and from there in the passenger terminal buses depart to the village.

Very early in the morning we met and from there we started our journey along a road or trail that took us into the mountains.

The air, besides the characteristic smell of the vegetation, is pure and in this photo the leader of the excursion shows it.

In this photo we are going up to a small elevation where you can see one of the trees that give name to the place.

This place is used by those who like extreme sports to practice hiking and here you can see from the top a part of the road they travel.

In this picture two of the hikers are in a low-branching tree.

The trunks of the trees give away the fact that they have been growing for many years and that they are a native species of this forest.

Here we are at the top of one of the mountains and you can see some of the haze that the temperature produces.

The photos were taken by my recently purchased Sony Alpha a330 digital camera, which is why I accompanied them.

What a great route! Yaracuy must have many beauties to discover, I've only been to San Felipe, but it was so long ago that I remember very little, I hope to go back to hike, thanks for sharing!
