My Visit to the Indigenous Culture of the “Kaamulan Festival at Malaybalay Bukidnon”

in Pinmapplelast month

In my 40 years of existence, this is my first visit to one of Mindanao's most popular celebrated festival cultures, the "Kaamulan Festival." I was only curious about what the Kaamulan Festival is. All I know is that it is just a kind of festival like in our city, but I am wondering why so many people want to travel to Kaamulan, such as celebrities, famous bloggers, and even ordinary people

To answer my curiosity, I travel by motorcycle from Cagayan de Oro to Malaybalay, Bukidnon, for two hours. We arrive late in the evening, so we stay and sleep in preparation for tomorrow's visit to the Kaamulan Festival. I am very excited because I know it will be a lot of fun to explore the festival for the first time. The best time to explore the Kaamulan field is at night, when there are many different native trade exhibits and an art fair.

During the opening of the Kaamulan Festival, there is also street dancing and a float parade. Because it is not yet officially started, I am just an audience member who is enjoying the festival trade fair and street food night market. There is a wide range of merchandise available for purchase at the trade fair, including leather wallets, leather bags, fresh fruits, tribal shirts, native household merchandise, and native accessories.

I was unable to purchase any merchandise from the trade due to a lack of funds, but I was able to try their Barbeque meal, which was delicious. I enjoyed roaming around and became hungry, so I decided to eat at the Kaamulan food stall. Barbeque is the cheapest meal available, so that is what we had for dinner.

I also had the opportunity to photograph ancient statues and visit the old Church of Malaybalay Bukidnon. After wandering around Malaybalay, I received some invitations for newbies outreach onboarding to Hive through the DBuzz community, in which I orient newbies on how to get onboard and help them start writing short posts before moving forward to long posts in any community.*

It's getting late, and I'm about to sleep early for another pinmaple travel destination to the Majestic River of Malitbog Bukidnon, and I need to save some energy for tomorrow. Thank you for joining me on my ''Kaamulan Festival" experience journey.
