Tula Kremlin is an outstanding monument of Russian defense architecture of the XVI century. Built on the most important strategic direction of the Crimean Tatar raids – the Muravsky Shlyakh, it defended the southern borders of the Russian state for several centuries and was the main link of the famous Great Zasechnaya Line. The history of the Tula Kremlin began in 1507, when, by decree of Grand Duke Vasily III, the construction of the "stone city" – the Tula Fortress - began in Tula. The construction lasted thirteen years and was completed in 1520.
A distinctive feature of the Tula Kremlin is its location on a low, marshy place in the floodplain of the Upa River.

There are several museums on the territory of the Kremlin, one of which is a small village behind a high wooden fence. But unfortunately, we couldn't get there because it was closed. This museum is open from May to September.
There are shopping malls in front of me, where you can buy various locally produced goods and sweets. What is the main tourist product in Tula? Gingerbread! Now the secret of this delicacy is no longer a secret and anyone can make something similar in their home kitchen. My mother worked as a pastry chef and I made similar gingerbread in my childhood. To do this, you need to have a wooden shape in which the gingerbread is formed.
But you can't buy big real Tula gingerbread in the shops of Russian cities, they are sold only in Tula! But maybe there are specialty stores in Moscow.
This is how the Kremlin looks from the embankment of the Upa River. But I need to tell you about this embankment separately. It seemed to me that there were more people in this place than in Central City Park. A lot of the walkers are likely tourists. This is a wonderful walking area. There are also children's play areas, where there were a lot of children. There is no such embankment in my hometown.
But I want to warn you, friends. The situation is very bad with parking spaces for a car. There are simply no parking lots near the Kremlin. Of course, we walked everywhere with our feet all day, the car was parked near the house where we rented an apartment. But still, for convenience and mobility, I would like to be able to drive up to the Kremlin by car.
We spent almost 10 hours in the Kremlin, its surroundings, and in the Food Zone. Time flew by unnoticed.
My daughter and her husband have been to this place 2 times already. But they discussed the possibility of coming here one more time.
