Situated at the periphery of Brgy. Matab-ang, Toledo City, Cebu, Lucob Cave features majestic rock formations, several water flows and falls, and the resident monkeys swinging from the overhead branches.
Your trip going there is not as with the regular one, due to the reason that the trip on going there is a lifetaking type, and if I say you "lifetaking", believe me you would not able to move even an inch of activity for the fear that you may ended up on the cliff.
If you exceed that lifetaking highway, the driver will bring you to the Lukob himself. But it's not the end of the battle yet.Tho, it takes a long time to be there and exhausting, the secret paradise will prove itself of being a PARADISE. You will observe the mini falls that revives you on its grand cool waters.
The rock formations such as the ship one and so many more will leave you breathless. Those birds flying around freely with their chirps and the sounds of the leaves as they are danced with the air and the spring that provides a crystal blue cool water which is like inviting you to let yourself be soaked by its magic kind of freshness it provides.
The secret paradise is much more than being secret because its center is on the remote side that you still have to scale mountainy rocks and lengthy mini caves that will take up to 30 minutes to one hour hike, jumps and climbing.
Lucob has a "layered" feel to it. Its river that winds its way up to it is swimmable. Inside, visitors are greeted by giant rocks they need to climb onto to access the central clearing, where they can sit and have lunch while hearing waterfalls and streams run.
From this point on, another layer of rocks flows to a waterfall that cascades in thick streams into a plunge pool, seemingly to create a natural jacuzzi. One might, if desired, climb still higher, but one should not do so since the ground grows tougher and hazardous the higher up one climbs.
The cave is famous among the locals, but only during the pandemic did it become crowded. Currently, encountering other individuals when visiting the location is rare. There's a high probability one might have the location all to themselves.
The primary means of transportation to access the cave is through habal-habal, whose operators take turns waiting at the corner in front of Sophie's Bakeshop in Matab-ang. When the road becomes inaccessible, tourists are advised to proceed on foot. Without a tour guide, the path to access the cave is to "follow the river," as it is commonly said.
Travellers have said that the pace of time is different in Lucob. Time is slower, as if you would want to take the time to appreciate its beauty. Also, the environment can be on the verge of being creepy. Amidst towering boulders and the sound of mighty waters, one cannot help but feel at the mercy of nature.
Lucob is best savored when summer season is there, when the possibility of rain is left far behind. If to enjoy its beauty, to experience its waterfall falling on your shoulders, to swim in its rivers, or to scratch your name in its rocks, Lucob is a memory yet to be unleashed.Those are the rewards of your pains and tribulations of reaching there and I assure you that.All your hard work will truly be worth it - on a much more than you would have imagined

It's really a great adventure. Going there is not easy but when you reach your destination its all worth it. Cave and waterfalls was perfect.π
