I really enjoyed being in Italy too, it has some very grandiose places to visit but also can feel quite reserved at the same time. Love the weather too!

Yes it has such a different feel from each place to the next. I remember being in Venice during Carnival. Wandering the packed areas then going off the main area to find quiet streets restaurants and cafes all with a different vibe with streets mostly to my self. The feeling was so different and quiet away from the main activity just like you describe. One region to the next is very different yet holds similarities.
