This morning I started by walking to find delicious food in Yogyakarta. In my opinion, I like Yogyakarta the most cause the food is very delicious, traditional and also unique. It's like going back twenty years ago, to be exact when I was at my grandmother's house. The vibes of Yogyakarta are that fun.
I started with the viral fried meatballs because they said it was a comfortable place to buy traditional snacks at the Kranggan market. Local people said that this market is a big market and has lots of food. So, because of my curiosity about these viral fried meatballs, I got to know the real Kranggan market.
The market is quite large, but unfortunately it was so crowded that I only walked around the streets. I was very afraid of feeling short of breath, because I was going home this afternoon by plane. Yogyakarta and Medan are very far apart, even closer to Australia than Yogyakarta. It took 3 hours by plane and I had to make my body fit, so I only walked around the outer part of the Kranggan market.
Here, they sell a lot of raw materials for daily needs. Many of them provide staple foods from agriculture such as vegetables, fruits and also fish. I like some special ones like milkfish wrapped in bamboo baskets. Indeed, Yogyakarta is like an art, still thick with tradition and customs. That's why people rarely forget Yogyakarta because it is very interesting.
After traveling around the island of Java, from the city of Jakarta to the city of Malang, I like tempeh in Yogyakarta the most, it seems to have a different taste. Although it looks like soybeans processed with yeast, but the taste is so different, huh? I think I will bring the tempeh I found in the market to take home. I want everyone to know about the taste of tempeh from Yogyakarta, for my family.
Kranggan Market tends to sell raw materials for basic needs, unlike Ngasem Market which is famous for its morning market to find typical Yogyakarta breakfast. There are so many markets selling market snacks and snacks, but believe me, things like this are what drive the people's economy.
So, I don't just go around museums, historical places or even temples, but I also need to interact with local residents by buying food at traditional markets. Traveling like this is very fun, it can be an input for yourself and get to know more people from all backgrounds and regions.
I was full and returned to the hotel with lots of food. Including the viral fried meatballs.
See you the next time hive friends!
