The city of Yogyakarta is so impressive for anyone, even for the world. It has so many cultures even since ancient times. This is where one of the world heritages was found, Prambanan Temple.
The area of Yogyakarta is so vast, but one thing that cannot be missed is Prambanan Temple. Where this temple is a temple that has a large area, a place where Hindus can worship and make this place one of the traces of the spread of Hinduism in Indonesia in the 9th century AD.
The temple is an offering to 3 gods, Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva. It was founded by previous kings and was damaged several times due to strong earthquakes, then more or less some were finally restored so that this temple could still be used and maintained so that its sustainability is maintained.
Often when I travel like this to heritage sites like this, I ask myself. How crazy were they to be able to make a magnificent building like this at that time, even they could be greater than humans today who make skyscrapers. In an era without technology, they were able to build a large temple and survive until now. That is already extraordinary.
With limited knowledge and technology, but able to build a magnificent and artistic building. Believed to use the best materials at that time, all of them were able to make things that seemed impossible to do.
I saw the details in every corner and side of Prambanan at that time, even though the sun was at its peak. Paying a ticket of 100,000 rupiah for one person and it was very worth it to maintain this place.
It is very unfortunate, because of the big earthquake at that time, there were several temples that were only rocks. Not restored and left alone, maybe because it could not be maintained and feared that if forced it would be dangerous if used. So, some of the temples in Prambanan, we see like rock debris and are prohibited from touching them.
That afternoon, Prambanan temple was visited by a sea of people. Interest in the history of the formation of this temple is the most important thing. This temple, built in the past, is one of the historical traces of the Mataram kingdom at that time. So, the temple was used as a place of worship for Hinduism. This is proof that many religions have come to Indonesia since ancient times, even though the majority of the Indonesian population today is Muslim.
The thing I like most about Prambanan temple is the reliefs in every corner of the temple. There are so many carvings that depict gods. It is said that the walls here tell stories and have their own plot and meaning.
One thing I know for sure, this temple is so magical. It feels very strong when the evening approaches. It's like there is magic that makes this temple look very beautiful, its silhouette indicates that the sun will set soon. There is nothing more beautiful than watching the sun set at Prambanan temple.
See you the next time hive friends!
