Exploring Pasaje Chinitas - A narrow street full of art 📷 Malaga - Spain

Walking through the square Constitución I saw what looked like a very narrow and almost hidden street. It was getting late in the afternoon and the sun was slowly setting.

When I arrived at the entrance of that street, on one side there was a balcony decorated with beautiful flowers, when I looked underneath I realised it was a perfume shop located on one side of that small street.

A historical point sign caught my attention. It indicated to me that this street has its value in history.

This kind of signs are found in several languages as they are places visited by thousands of tourists.

I tried to find the Spanish language to find out what it was about and why this street is considered an important historical point.

I couldn't believe that something like this was so important.

In the past this place belonged to a businessman who was also a governor of the city. His name was Antonio Álvarez and this whole area was privately owned by him.

He was in charge of promoting the construction of the place that was next to a convent, but when the latter was demolished, only the front of the old building remained, which today is the entrance to the passageway.

But there was also a very special café called Café de Chinitas, and that name was given because it was a theatre café where an actor called Chinitas used to perform, hence the name of the passageway.

At this point when you enter we find one of the many bakeries La Canasta, but this one is very small.

It is an ideal place to explore and walk around, the lights are beautiful and the atmosphere is warm.

All along the way I found those arcades with lampposts that I like so much, they were not yet lit.

Taking pictures in such a narrow place was tricky, but somehow I managed.

The façade of the central café is beautifully decorated and the wooden sign stands out among the lampposts.

In this passage there is a beautiful little square where I found more lampposts, beautiful, and around the place several interesting places.

The first was a small art gallery, which surprised me. It had its doors open and there seemed to be no one inside. The entrance was free, the place was small but there was a lot of art inside.

A very well lit place and of course Picasso and Dalí were present. The place is called Arte Chinitas.

There were paintings outside, in the streets and at the entrance as well as inside the place.

It was very nice to find this little gallery. What I hadn't realised was that the whole passage was dedicated to art and that was wonderful to discover.

On the opposite corner there is a restaurant called Romancero, very warm and romantic in its decorations.

Its shop windows were very artistically decorated and one of them had a poem by Federico García Lorca.

Being an intersection of streets, the views were unique and very original. Lights and lampposts were everywhere.

I continued my tour and further on I saw chairs and tables with their beautiful tablecloths in that little street that indicated the presence of another restaurant.

It is called El Paraje and also has a lot of artistic decorations on the walls as well as on the stained glass windows with many drawings.

There are also many posters with the menus and the products they offer.

I really liked the atmosphere and the street is really romantic and full of art. Especially because of the lights when they started to turn them on and the beautiful street lamps.

20240417_205330.jpg20240417_205634.jpg

When I reached the end of the street, I turned right and found another little street. Its lights guided me until I came out behind the Episcopal Museum, from where I could see the tower of the Cathedral of Malaga.

I decided to go back the same way, retracing my steps, to admire everything illuminated as night fell.

20240417_210104.jpg

I made a beautiful walk both there and back, where the atmosphere changes when the street lamps are lit.

As we exited through the beautiful doorway of this passage, we could see the square Constitución, which was just beginning to light up.

I was delighted to find this place where warmth, art, romance and good taste in decorations predominate.

Thank you all for joining me on this walk. Best regards to all of you and see you next time.

Thank you!!

Abrazo!

De nada, todo un gusto

🤗🤗🤗

It's so beautiful there. It's like being transported to another time. The light also glows with that Mediterranean atmosphere. Very nice.

I love the lanterns, they give a unique style and the artwork is beautiful. Thank you very much @miprimerconcurso ❤️

What an interesting walk, I suppose through the old part of Malaga. I quite liked some of the photos of those narrow streets. Here in Madrid there was also a Café teatro de Chinitas, opened in the 70s of the 20th century. Today I know the origin of the name of the place in Madrid. Best regards

To learn about history is very interesting and to see how they preserve part of it is very beautiful. Thank you very much @enraizar

You are welcome my dear Amonet; have a great evening. Best regards @avdesing
