Here I am again with you ready to talk about an event that is very close to my heart and that I follow since I am really very small; which is why I also bring my almost two year old daughter and also because it is not the first post I do on this topic, so look in my blog for more posts about it.
Let’s talk about Mille Miglia!

Eccomi di nuovo con voi pronta a parlarvi di un evento che mi sta molto a cuore e che seguo da quando sono veramente molto piccola; motivo per cui porto anche mia figlia di quasi due anni e anche perchè non è il primo post che faccio su questo argomento, quindi cercate pure nel mio blog altri post a riguardo.
Parliamo di Mille Miglia!
As I mentioned in more posts, this year Brescia is the capital of culture together with Bergamo, and the thousand miles is an event that comes from the city of Brescia!
1000 Miglia : The history
The mille miglia was a competition born in the mid-twentieth century, the first mille miglia was run in 1927 after the First World War and before the second. The race consisted in starting from Brescia to Rome and returning to Brescia in the shortest time, the route was 1450 km long about a thousand imperial miles, which is why it was decided to give it that name. Until 1957 for twenty-four editions, the automobile competition was held, although, being a speed race on public roads, there were numerous accidents that cost lives even to spectators who were there to attend the event, including numerous children.
For this reason in 1957 it was decided, after yet another incident that cost the lives of seven people, to cancel the event.
Come già vi ho accennato in più post, Brescia quest’anno è capitale della cultura insieme a Bergamo, e la mille miglia è un evento che nasce proprio dalla città di Brescia!
1000 Miglia : La storia
La mille miglia è stata una competizione nata a metà novecento, la prima mille miglia è stata corsa nel 1927 periodo successivo alla prima guerra mondiale e precedente alla seconda. La gara consisteva nel partire da Brescia arrivare a Roma e tornare a Brescia nel minor tempo, il percorso era lungo 1450 km circa mille miglia imperiali, motivo per cui si decise di darle quel nome. Fino al 1957 per ventiquattro edizioni, la competizione automobilistica fu disputata, anche se, essendo una corsa di velocità su strade pubbliche, ci furono numerosi incidenti che costarono la vita anche a spettatori che si trovavano li per assistere alla manifestazione, tra cui numerosi bambini.
Per questo motivo nel 1957 si decise, dopo l’ennesimo incidente che costò la vita a sette persone, di cancellare la manifestazione.

Today the Mille Miglia is a historical re-enactment, not so much a test of speed but a race of regularity.
The competition restarted in 1987 with an increasing following, and this led to the organization of some clubs with vintage cars and the creation in 2004 of the Museum of the Mille Miglia, within which there are photographs and vintage cars.

Oggi la Mille Miglia è una rievocazione storica, non tanto prova di velocità ma una gara di regolarità .
La competizione riparte nel 1987 con sempre maggior seguito, e questo porta all’organizzazione di alcuni club con macchine d’epoca e alla creazione nel 2004 del Museo delle Mille Miglia, entro il quale si trovano fotografie e macchine d’epoca.
This year with my brothers we decided not to wait for the Mille Miglia in Brescia, but we headed to Bergamo to see the penultimate stage in the city that with Brescia is the capital of culture.
Once we arrived in Bergamo we parked in the lower part of the city, then thanks to the cable car, we climbed into the upper town.
Once we got off the cable car we found ourselves in the middle of the race, because the vintage cars arrived just in that direction and then continue their race to the next stage. Obviously we stopped to admire the cars that were speeding and we walked a small road in the opposite direction to that of the vehicles.
Quest’anno con i miei fratelli abbiamo deciso di non aspettare la Mille Miglia a Brescia, ma ci siamo diretti a Bergamo per vedere la penultima tappa nella città che con Brescia è capitale della cultura.
Una volta arrivati a Bergamo abbiamo parcheggiato nella parte piĂą bassa della cittĂ , poi grazie alla funivia, siamo saliti in cittĂ alta.
Una volta scesi dalla funivia ci siamo ritrovati nel bel mezzo della corsa, perché le macchine d’epoca arrivavano proprio in quella direzione per proseguire poi la loro corsa verso la prossima tappa. Ovviamente ci siamo fermati per ammirare le macchine che sfrecciavano e abbiamo percorso una piccola stradina nella direzione opposta a quella di marcia dei veicoli.
The upper town of Bergamo is a medieval city, probably built on the remains of a previous Roman city, closed within Venetian walls, its ancient streets lead to the main square containing the Palazzo della Ragione and the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
After seeing the first part of the race we headed to the square thinking that the cars would stop for a short break, but unfortunately we realized that the stop was not expected having them scheduled to arrive in Brescia at 12:30.
La città alta di Bergamo è una città medievale, probabilmente costruita sui resti di una precedente città romana, chiusa all’interno di mura veneziane, le sue vie antiche portano alla piazza principale contenente il Palazzo della Ragione e la Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore.
Dopo aver visto la prima parte della corsa ci siamo diretti in Piazza pensando che le autovetture si sarebbero fermate per una breve pausa, purtroppo però ci siamo accorti che lo stop non era previsto avendo loro in programma l’arrivo a Brescia per le 12:30.
We then continued the route arriving at the exact point of the time test, where the cars must maintain a certain time to make a short track.
It was very interesting because this part is where competitors have to work harder to get a good result. The sum of the time trials will determine the winner of the competition, that is the team that will have taken less time throughout the course.
After seeing this part we headed to Brescia, to see the arrival.

Abbiamo poi proseguito il percorso arrivando nel punto esatto della prova tempo, prova in cui le autovetture devono mantenere un certo tempo per effettuare un breve tracciato.
Era molto interessante perchè questa parte è quella in cui i concorrenti devono impegnarsi maggiormente per ottenere un buon risultato. La somma delle prove tempo decreterà il vincitore della competizione, ossia il team che avrà impiegato meno tempo durante tutto il percorso.
Dopo aver visto questa parte ci siamo diretti a Brescia, per vedere l’arrivo.
