Ciao amici di Hive,
oggi voglio parlarvi di una breve fuga che ho fatto lo scorso inverno a Bologna.
E’ stato proprio un breve viaggio di soli due giorni, ma in ogni caso sono riuscita a visitare lo stesso quasi tutta la città.

today I want to tell you about a short escape I made last winter in Bologna.
It was just a short trip of only two days, but in any case I managed to visit almost the whole city anyway.
La città di Bologna è molto grande, ricca di storia e di cultura. La città si trova nel cuore della Pianura Padana nella regione dell’Emilia Romagna, ed è facilmente raggiungibile con il treno, infatti io ho usato proprio quello come mezzo di trasporto.
La sua caratteristica principale sono i quasi 40 km di portici ,che la rendono la città con i portici più lunghi del mondo. La comodità è che quando piove si è sempre al coperto!
The city of Bologna is very large, rich in history and culture. The city is located in the heart of the Po Valley in the Emilia Romagna region, and is easily accessible by train, in fact I used that as a means of transport.
Its main feature is the almost 40 km of arcades, which make it the city with the longest arcades in the world. The convenience is that when it rains you are always indoors!
Per prima cosa una volta arrivati, bisogna recarsi in Piazza Maggiore, la più grande piazza di Bologna e ricca di palazzi medievali oltre che della Basilica di San Petronio, la quale facciata non è stata terminata.
Le dimensioni di questa piazza sono davvero notevoli, 115 metri in lunghezza e 60 metri in larghezza.
First, once you arrive, you have to go to Piazza Maggiore, the largest square in Bologna and full of medieval buildings as well as the Basilica of San Petronio, whose facade has not been finished.
The dimensions of this square are truly remarkable, 115 meters in length and 60 meters in width.
A fianco di questa piazza troviamo la Piazza del Nettuno, così chiamata per la statua che si trova al di sopra della fontana, viene anche chiamata del Gigante.
Altra tappa assolutamente da fare è Via d’Azeglio, si trova vicino a Piazza Maggiore. E’ famosa perchè sotto il periodo natalizio vengono poste delle luminarie, delle installazioni luminose che vengono accese ogni giorno, infatti da qualche anno sono diventate la principale attrazione del natale bolognese.
Next to this square we find the Piazza del Nettuno, so called for the statue that is located above the fountain, it is also called the Giant.
Another must-do stop is Via d'Azeglio, located near Piazza Maggiore. It is famous because during the Christmas period there are lights, light installations that are turned on every day, in fact for some years they have become the main attraction of the Bolognese Christmas.
Then you can't miss the famous window in via Piella, once you arrive in the street you have to queue up to take a picture in front of the window. This point is very famous because the window overlooks a canal, which is somewhat reminiscent of Venice, which is why it is also called the window of little Venice.
Ovviamente da non perdere, ma direi che sono impossibili da non vedere viste le dimensioni, sono le due torri Garisenda e degli Asinelli. Queste sono importantissime e riconosciute come il simbolo della città. Si trovano proprio nel cuore di Bologna all’ingresso dell’antica via Emilia che portava in città.
Sono state realizzate in epoca medievale e la loro funzione principale era quella di difesa.
Obviously not to be missed, but I would say that they are impossible not to see given the size, are the two towers Garisenda and degli Asinelli. These are very important and recognized as the symbol of the city. They are located right in the heart of Bologna at the entrance to the ancient Via Emilia that led to the city.
They were built in medieval times and their main function was that of defense.
Per finire un posto davvero suggestivo è la biblioteca dell’Archiginnasio, è uno dei palazzi più significativi della città e la sede dell’antica università di Bologna che ancora oggi è una delle migliori del paese. Il palazzo fu costruito nel XVI secolo, gli interni e i soffitti sono ricchi di affreschi, meravigliosi i colori degli interni e le lavorazioni.

Finally, a truly evocative place is the Archiginnasio library, it is one of the most significant buildings in the city and the seat of the ancient university of Bologna which is still one of the best in the country today. The palace was built in the 16th century, the interiors and ceilings are rich in frescoes, the interior colors and the workmanship are wonderful.
I leave you some photos that make the idea much better than a single description.
