Hello people of Hive, here I am again to tell you about another of my travels.
This time I will talk about Agrigento and the scale of the Turks, since in the last post we dealt with the Valley of the Temples always there in Agrigento (for those who missed the post I leave you the link https://peakd.com/hive-163772/@ be-claere/the-valley-of-the-temples-agrigento ).

We were in Agrigento last summer, my partner and I visited Agrigento, the valley of the temples and the Scala dei Turchi.
Agrigento is a hilly city in Sicily, an island located in the south of Italy. In ancient times it was first dominated by the Greeks, it was in fact part of Magna Graecia, an area of the Mediterranean area colonized in ancient times by the Greeks, and then conquered by the Romans.
it is an ancient city rich in history, full of colors in its narrow alleys, as can be seen in the artists' staircase in one of the main streets. We find ourselves catapulted back in time, the difference compared to northern Italy is definitely visible, but the wonder of these places is indescribable.
Siamo stati ad Agrigento la scorsa estate, io e il mio compagno abbiamo visitato Agrigento, la valle dei templi e la scala dei turchi.
Agrigento è una città collinare della Sicilia, isola che si trova nel sud dell’Italia. In antichità fu dominata prima dai greci, faceva infatti parte della Magna Grecia, area del mediterraneo colonizzata anticamente dai Greci, e poi conquistata dai romani.
è una città antica e ricca di storia, piena di colori nei suoi vicoli stretti, come si può vedere nella scalinata degli artisti in una delle vie principali. Ci si ritrova catapultati indietro nel tempo, la differenza rispetto al nord italia è decisamente visibile, ma la meraviglia di questi posti è indescrivibile.
After half a day spent visiting Agrigento and after a good plate of pasta allo scoglio, we headed to our hotel, which was located in Favara, a small provincial town, also very suggestive, a decidedly old city but with a great charm.
Dopo una mezza giornata passata a visitare Agrigento e dopo un buon piatto di pasta allo scoglio, ci siamo diretti verso il nostro hotel, che si trovava a Favara, una piccola cittadina di provincia, anche questa molto suggestiva, una città decisamente vecchia ma con un gran fascino.
The following day we headed to the Scala dei Turchi, which is about 20 minutes by car from Agrigento city center. It is a destination not to be missed! It is a white rock staircase overlooking the sea. It takes its name from its conformation and from the fact that the ancient populations, the Saracens also called Turks, used it as a ladder to loot, after arriving from the sea, the nearby villages.
Being a hydrogeological risk area, it is protected and safeguarded.
Il giorno seguente ci siamo diretti alla scala dei Turchi, che dista circa 20 minuti in auto da Agrigento centro città. E’ una meta assolutamente da non perdere! E’ una scalinata di roccia bianca a picco sul mare. Prende il nome dalla sua conformazione e dal fatto che le popolazioni antiche, i saraceni anche chiamati turchi, la utilizzavano come scala per saccheggiare, dopo essere arrivati dal mare, li villaggi li vicini.
Essendo una zona a rischio idrogeologico viene tutelata e salvaguardata.
For those who are in the area I highly recommend the visit because it is truly something unique of its kind.
