In this post we will talk about the Neapolis Archaeological Park that is located
right in the center of the city of Syracuse and that is the emblem of its history.
A natural area that contains many archaeological finds that allow you to
understand the greatness and importance of the city in antiquity.
As I already told you in my old article, ( the one about Taormina and its Greek
theatre ), in this post you will find a part about the Greek theatre of Syracuse;
But, in spite of myself, the ancient theatre had been set up to host theatre
performances and concerts, so it is not so easy to see its ancient beauty.
The park is surrounded by greenery, and I must say that the vegetation, at least in
summer, creates shady areas so you can see the park even on scorching days
without dying of heat!
First, following the path is visible immediately on the left, the altar of Hieron II, of this
remain only the structures of the base, the elevation was used by the Spanish in
modern times to fortify the city. The examination of monuments is a widespread
practice and dates back to the Middle Ages. It was more practical and less
expensive to recover blocks of bricks, columns, beams, and much more directly in
the area, dismantling entire monuments, which, once, did not have the value and
importance that they have today but rather remembered parts of a different and
distant culture.
bellezza.
E voi cosa ne pensate? Siete d’accordo con me?

An excellent report, with very good lines and even better photographs... It is a wonderful and visually stunning place... You have captured its essence in a masterful way in many of these images... I agree with you that the modernisation of something as beautiful as this ancient theatre is not at all good, from my point of view it seems to me something "profane"... But these things usually happen, although are difficult to understand... Thank you very much for this post, I enjoyed it from beginning to end!

I love places full of history and yes this place is spectacular.
I have to admit I would have been glad if the man hadn't meddled so much in the rehabilitation of these places.
Thank you 😊
