Pronti per la terza parte del mio viaggio in Calabria?! Oggi parleremo della città di Reggio Calabria, una città di costiera che si trova in prossimità dello stretto di Messina.

Ready for the third part of my trip to Calabria ?! Today we will talk about the city of Reggio Calabria, a coastal city located near the Strait of Messina.

Una volta finita la visita, potete recarvi alla gelateria Cesare, che si trova proprio nei pressi del museo, per mangiare una deliziosa brioches con il gelato.

Once the visit is over, you can head to the Cesare ice cream shop, which is located right next to the museum, to eat a delicious croissant with ice cream.
Il kilometro più bello d’Italia
Così fu denominato il Lungomare Falcomatà dal poeta Gabriele D’Annunzio, in realtà la camminata è molto più lunga, circa 2 km.
Il lungomare è il centro principale della vita calabrese, ricco di locali e di eventi per intrattenere turisti.
Inoltre è possibile vedere L’arena dello stretto “ Ciccio Franco”, un teatro moderno, a imitazione dei teatri antichi, essendo questo tutto territorio della vecchia Magna Grecia.
Infatti anche la scena è stata situata proprio sul mare, in modo tale che il palcoscenico avesse lo stretto come sfondo.

So it was called the Lungomare Falcomatà by the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, in reality the walk is much longer, about 2 km.
The promenade is the main center of Calabrian life, full of local and events to entertain tourists.
Also you can see the arena of the strait " Ciccio Franco", a modern theater, imitating the ancient theaters, this being all territory of the old Magna Grecia.
In fact, the scene was also located right on the sea, so that the stage had the narrow background.
Rotonda 8 Marzo
Questa installazione è piuttosto recente, è stata infatti inaugurata nel 2020, ed è stata realizzata dall'unione di tutte le donne italiane come simbolo per far fronte alla violenza contro le donne. E' veramente un monumento di grandissima importanza.
L'installazione è molto suggestiva se vista al tramonto o all'alba, ma il suo maggior fascino lo trasmette la sera, quando viene illuminata da delle piccole luci poste a terra.
Rotunda 8 March
This installation is quite recent, it was in fact inaugurated in 2020, and was created by the union of all Italian women as a symbol to face violence against women. It’s really a monument of great importance.
The installation is very impressive if seen at sunset or dawn, but its greatest charm transmits it in the evening, when it is illuminated by small lights placed on the ground.
Sculture Rabarama
Altro pezzo forte del lungomare sono le sculture dalle sembianze umane di Paola Epifani, dette anche Rabarama. Sono di dimensioni abbastanza notevoli, purtroppo sono riuscita a fotografarne una sola, ma vi lascio la curiosità di andarle a visitare appena vi è possibile.

Another highlight of the promenade are the sculptures in the human form of Paola Epifani, also called Rabarama. They are quite remarkable, unfortunately I was able to photograph only one, but I leave you the curiosity to visit them as soon as you can.
