Hello, everyone!
I hope you are well or are trying to be well. I just realised something a while ago and I got right into it. It's been exactly a month since the 8th part of my From All Over Turkiye series. It's unlikely, isn't it 😂
So I immediately found out where I stayed on my trip, examined the photos and prepared them. Today we are going to the Temple of Athena with you. I must say it was a very challenging road. But it was worth every second. I guess I should also say that I am not a person who poses well 😂
It's supposed to be mid-January. It could be the 19th; I'm not sure. That day, we started the day with the Temple of Athena because our road was problematic. Especially big vehicles can only go up to a certain point in that area. Why? Because the slope is VERY steep. Believe me, I had to go sideways. This was no longer a walk but a climb.
Of course, I couldn't take photos when I was so focussed on climbing on the road. I even took off my thick coat I brought in case it would be too cold up there. It had very nice, windy weather.
In the past, they used to build the agora, the settlements of the classes including priests and rulers, at the highest point. This is proof of this, of course. The fresh air and the beautiful wind were dazzling even though not much was left of the temple.
If I had a house with such a view, I wouldn't open my mouth for the road I took. I'm serious, by the way 😂
We went up to this temple, but as we didn't have much time I couldn't see all the ruins and unfortunately there wasn't much to see. The main places to see will be in the Aegean region of my trip. The Aegean region is very rich in ancient theatres and cities.
In one corner of the temple there was a model made to show how it used to be.
I wish I could have taken a better photo of it, but when you see the view and see this temple on paper and on a computer screen for 4 years, your priorities change.
And there were danger signs everywhere. It is quite understandable. Because at some points you can even feel the soil under your feet slipping. I experienced this a few times.
A few times I tried to take a selfie with a good light angle.
And the result...
There is no problem except that my skin and eyes are sensitive to the sun, right? 😂
Before long, we left the temple. As I already said, there was nothing much to see in the temple. We went back the way we came by saying that we would give the information on the way.
Here I was telling Nabi about my disappointment and my insomnia. I was really sleepless... But it was worth it.
Lastly, I would like to show you the photo we took with you as a whole travelling group. I think it is a very nice photo.
After this photo, we prepared a little surprise for our head guide at night and I would like to share with you the little video taken by the gentleman in the square, lumberjack shirt in the lower left corner and then I would like to end by adding the things you should be careful about going up to this temple.
Clothing
Now let's come to the temple hill. The hill is not very strong because it is made of cobblestone. In other words, most of the stones are moving, so that day, or even better, during all your trips to the Aegean and Marmara regions, I recommend you to wear shoes with a neck that will secure your ankles. One of the group fell and sprained her ankle. Of course, I had some pain killer cream with me to give her. But Beyza could not get out of the vehicle for the rest of the trip.
I also recommend you to take something that will protect you from the wind but will not make you sweat in the sun. Especially if you are going in summer, don't forget your sun cream. Even a big hat and a hand fan will make your trip much easier.
Since there is no grass on the road, there is no need for clothes like trousers, but you need to protect yourself from sunburn. Unfortunately, there is no tree to hide under the shade.
Load
Since you have to climb a long way and you will not spend a lot of time, I recommend you not to take big bags with you. This is a huge factor that will make you lose your balance and even worse. I recommend that you only take small items such as wet wipes that you think you will need. Also, small children should never go up there. It is very dangerous for them.
Cash
The cute aunts and uncles who live there sell their own oils, soaps or candles. So it is important to carry cash with you. I bought St John's wort oil for 50 TL (1,52 USD), which I could not find in Istanbul for 300-400 TL (9,13 - 12,17 USD). There were many more nice things. I even remember buying a bracelet, but I couldn't find it to show you.
I think I'm done. I remembered the day I went to the Temple and the sweetness of the difficulties I experienced. I have a smile on my face now, to be honest. I think this is what is important. I also tried to give advice as much as I could, just in case you might be travelling there one day.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Biraz önce bir şey fark ettim ve hemen buna giriştim. Türkiye'nin Dört Bir Yanından serimin 8. bölümünün üzerinden tam olarak 1 ay geçmiş. Olacak iş değil, değil mi? 😂
Bu yüzden hemen gezimde nerede kaldığımı bulup fotoğrafları inceleyip hazırladım. Bugün sizinle Athena Tapınağı'na gidiyoruz. Çok zorlu bir yol olduğunu söylemeliyim. Ama her bir saniyesine değerdi. Bir de iyi poz veren bir insan olmadığımı söylemeliyim sanırım 😂
Ocak ayının ortası olması gerekiyor. 19'u da olabilir emin değilim. O gün güne Athena Tapınağı ile başladık çünkü yolumuz sorunluydu. Özellikle büyük araçlar o bölgede belirli bir yere kadar çıkabiliyor. Neden mi? Çünkü yokuş ÇOK dik. İnanının yan yan gitmek zorunda kaldım. Bu artık bir yürüyüş değil tırmanıştı.
Yolda tırmanmaya bu kadar odaklanınca fotoğraf çekemedim elbette. Hatta yukarısı çok soğuk olur diye getirdiğim kalın montumu çıkardım da. Oldukça güzel, rüzgarlı bir havası vardı.
Eskiden agoraları, din adamları ve yöneticileri kapsayan sınıfların yerleşim yerlerini en yüksek noktaya yaparlardı. Bu da bunun kanıtı elbette. Temiz havası, güzel rüzgârı tapınaktan geriye çok fazla bir şey kalmasa da göz kamaştırıcıydı.
Böyle bir manzaraya karşı benim de evim olsa ben de çektiğim yol için ağzımı açmazdım. Ciddiyim bu arada 😂
Bu tapınağa çıktık fakat çok fazla zamanımız olmadığından bütün kalıntıları göremedim ki açıkça ve ne yazık ki görülecek çok fazla bir şey de yoktu. Asıl görülecek yerler gezimin Ege bölgesi adımında olacak. Ege bölgesi antik tiyatrolar ve kentler açısından çok zengin.
Tapınağın bir köşesinde eski hâlini gösterebilmek için yapılmış bir maket vardı.
Keşke daha iyi bir fotoğrafını çekebilseymişim fakat manzara duruken ve bu tapınağı 4 yıl boyunca kağıt üzerinde ve bilgisayar ekranında görünce öncelikleriniz değişiyor.
Bir de her yerde tehlike ibareleri vardı. Oldukça anlaşılır bir durum. Çünkü bazı noktalarda ayağınızın altındaki toprağın bile kaydığını hissedebiliyorsunuz. Bunu birkaç kere yaşadım.
Birkaç kere iyi bir ışık açısıyla selfie çekmeye çalıştım.
Ve sonuç...
Güneşe karşı cildimin ve gözlerimin hassas olması dışında hiçbir sorun yok değil mi? 😂
Çok fazla geçmeden ise tapınaktan ayrıldık. Zaten dediğim gibi tapınakta çok fazla görülecek bir şey yoktu. Bilgileri ise hocamız yolda veririm diyerek geldiğimiz yoldan geri indik.
Burada ise hem hayâl kırıklığımı hem de uykusuzluğumu söylüyordum Nabi'ye. Gerçekten de uykusuzdum... Ama değdi.
Son olarak ise sizinle bütün gezi grubu olarak çektirdiğimiz fotoğrafı göstermek istiyorum. Oldukça güzel bir fotoğraf olduğunu düşünüyorum.
Bu fotoğraf sonrasında gecesinde baş rehberimize minik bir sürpriz hazırladık ve sol alt köşede kare, oduncu gömlekli beyefendinin çekmiş olduğu minik videoyu da sizinle paylaşıp sonrasında bu tapınağa çıkarken dikkatli olmanız gereken şeyleri de ekleyip bitimek isterim.
Kıyafet
Şimdi gelelim tapınak yokuşuna. Yokuş Arnavut kaldırımından yapıldığı için çok sağlam değil. Yani çoğu taş yerinden oynuyor bu yüzden o gün, ya da daha da iyisi bütün Ege ve Marmara bölgeleri gezileriniz boyunca ayak bileklerinizi sağlama alacak boyunlu ayakkabılar giymenizi öneririm. Gruptan birisi düştü ve bileğini burktu. Benim yanımda ona verecek ağrı kesici kremim vardı elbette. Fakat gezinin geri kalanında Beyza araçtan inemedi.
Üzerinize sizi rüzgârdan koruyacak fakat güneşte de terletmeyecek bir şey almanızı da öneririm. Özellikle yazın gidiyorsanız güneş kreminizi kesinlikle unutmayın. Hatta kocaman bir şapka ve el fanı da gezinizi oldukça kolaylaştıracaktır.
Yolda otlar olmadığı için pantolon gibi bir kıyafete gerek yok fakat güneş yanığı için kendinizi korumanız gerekiyor. Gölgesinin altına saklanabileceğiniz bir ağaç yok ne yazık ki.
Yük
Uzun bir yol tırmanmanız gerektiğinden ve çok fazla zaman geçirmeyeceğinizden yanınızda büyük çantalar almamanızı öneririm. Boşuna yük demek bu ve hatta daha kötüsü dengenizi kaybetmenizi sağlayacak çok büyük bir etken. Yanınıza sadece ihtiyacınız olacağınız düşündüğünüz ıslak medil gibi minik eşyaları almanızı öneririm. Bir de kesinlikle oraya küçük çocuklar çıkmamalı. Onlar için çok tehlikeli.
Nakit
Orada yaşayan şirin teyzeler ve amcalar kendi ürettikleri yağları, sabunları veya mum gibi şeyleri satıyor. Bu yüzden yanınızda nakit taşımak önemli. Ben oradan İstanbul içerisinde 300-400 TL'ye bulamadığım kantaron yağını 50 TL'ye aldım. Çok daha fazla güzel şey de vardı. Hatta bir bileklik de aldığımı hatırlıyorum fakat onu bulamadım size gösterebilmek için.
Sanırım benden bu kadar. Tağınağa gittiğim günü ve yaşadığım zorlukların tatlılığını yeniden hatırladım. Yüzümde bir gülümseme var şu an açıkçası. Bence önemli olan da bu zaten. Bir de olur da bir gün sizin de yolunuz düşerse diye elimden geldiğince tavsiye de vermeye çalıştım.
