On some days, like today, we just decide to skip work, have a good breakfast and hit the road. As there is not much left we haven´t seen here on the Algarve n Portugal, we decided to drive towards the west coast. We haven´t been there since a while and on sunny, calm days like today, you usually do not get disappointed. Well, I was right, it was one of the most beautiful mornings we had here.
On the way we to the west coast we decided to go to Praia da Cordoama what lays directly next to Praia do Castelejo, where we have already been and I surfed that spot before. Castelejo is beautiful but I did not expect Cordoama to be even more beautiful.
Since you first have to drive down a very steep mountain to reach both beaches, you have an incredibly awesome view from above. Today was simply breathtaking and even the waves were perfect. Small but perfect. Tomorrow they´re going to be a bit bigger so I´ll go there again for a little session.
We arrived there at the absolute low tide, what was pretty good as you have much more space to walk on the beach. It´s really impossible to not like it down here. Even the cold wind, which was very unpleasant on some days, was practically non-existent today. It almost felt like a cool summer morning.
The low tide had another advantage, we found endless flat stones which are perfect to let them bounce. I love to do little kids stuff like this. Could spend hours on the beach with climbing, searching for shells or let stones bounce.
This beach as well as Castelejo is perfect if you like long beach walks as during low tide it is easy to walk from one beach to the other. Just take care of the tide, otherwise you might get stuck on one beach, then it´s a long walk back.
While it was pretty warm in the sun, it gets much colder if you get closer to the big slate rocks and into the shade. But the light changes and you get a whole new impression
Such a beach in the morning is a fantastic spot to take photos, go for a long walk with your dog, have a surf or simply have fun like we did.
With the incoming tide there were more and more surfer coming and enjoying the prefect waves.
Furthermore there are endless Kilometers of hiking trails above these beaches. So if you get stuck on one beach due to the tide there is always a way around that.
Since we are alway well prepared, we had a little lunchbox with us that we enjoyed on another beach more north. This one I will show you on another day.
It was a long day, I´m tired and need to get up quite early tomorrow to catch some good waves at this fantastic beach. Fingers crossed it´s as goos as today.
Forgot to mention that I lost my sunglasses again like on one of our previous hikes. Unfortunately this time I haven´t found it again. Big loss, as I really loved them and you can only get them in england or australia. It was one of the last things in my possession from australia.

Thank you! No, you can´t climb there but hiking on the pathways is relatively easy, although it´s quite steep at some parts.

The Algarve has an amazing coastline, one of the most beautiful I´ve seen so far. Most of these hikes can easily be done with kids.
