Bangkok Wat Intharawihan Thai - Chinese Temple.

in Pinmapple3 years ago (edited)

Here in Bangkok city we have had some pretty gloomy miserable weather for the past 2 weeks but this morning i woke up to a beautiful sunny clear blue sky all the rain and them dark clouds had disappeared so i took the advantage of going down to the Sathorn Pier and take a cruise along the Chao Phraya river of Bangkok , i love this river there is always much to see and you can simply hope on a taxi boat for minimum of 15 baht (50c US) maximum 25 baht (80c US) depending how many stops you want to travel along the river.

I was traveling about 12 stops which cost me 15 baht , i had decided i wanted to go and see the Thai-Chinese Temple the Wat Intharawihan which was about a 1 Km walk from the Thewes Pier while traveling along the Chao Phraya river i was admiring some of the icons that are along this river like the Temple of Dawn , The Thailand Naval Base and the IconSiam shopping mall the mother of all malls in Thailand.

And the Rama 9 Bridge that was built to join the east and west side of Bangkok city and was named in the honor of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's for his 60th birthday.

This barge been towed with this bucket excavator scooping up water from the river had me confused not sure why it was scooping up water from the river but it was certainly hilarious to see.

Arriving at Thewes Pier , i took the slow pace walk to the temple following google map within 30 minutes i was at my destination the Wat Intharawihan Temple. It was a small donation at your convenience and for the donation you received some incense to lite up and some gold slips of very thin sheets of golden paper that you could stick on any of the Buddha statues you wished to pray for your good luck and good fortune and to take away any evil spirits within you is what the Thai people believe.

I do love the architectural design of Thai Temples and Chinese temples put together they seem to put across a very peaceful , tranquil and spiritual feeling towards you and i do feel that went i am walking around temple grounds like this with all these colors mixed in with the Chinese little temple houses and happy colorful Chinese Buddhas i was feeling somehow relieved of all stress and feeling happy for some reason.

This temple dates back to 1782 during the reign of King Rama I and was originally named Wat Rai Phrik , till restoration starting taking place in 1867 by King Mongkut (Rama IV) which took 60 years to complete and was then named Wat Intharawihan.

Every day Buddhist people visit the temple complex bringing offerings to the Monks like flowers and other items and burning incense sticks around the many Buddha statues the Thai people believe that this temple been the founded of Bangkok city possess the power of blessing and success.

This was quite interesting to see a fountain which was been cleaned out at the time i was there but it had all these beautiful little Buddha statues surrounding this huge banyan tree with signs saying how many prays you should be saying per day depending on what day you were born luckily i was born on a Sunday so i don't have to pray as many times a day like others 😊

While i was touring these grounds of this temple i noticed a few street vendors coming through the grounds of the temple in order to get a blessing in luck that they would make some sales today how modest and cool is that i am wishing them good luck myself especially to this beautiful old lady wheeling this load around they certainly do it hard 👍

This was an absolutely fabulous walk down to the temple! The boat ride there was interesting and the tour of Bangkok is always a pleasure. It is such a different view from the river than it is standing next to it all. It is, without a doubt, one of the most stunning cities, with a rich cultural heritage that has a contemporary edge to it.

The shopping you have always shown, hands down. Amazing. The temple is impressive and the statues amazing. but the cat is just adorable. :)) I want to thank you for taking part in the #MarketFriday challenge! The entire challenge has migrated from a stroll through a market to a cultural extravaganza. ! It really surprised me, but, also delights me to know how much effort people put into it. It pointed out our differences in the beginning, but, then, it really started showing how many things our cultures share. When the day is done, it shows off how human we all are and how we basically all care about our families and others. I love the experience of it all. I appreciate the love and support given to #MarketFriday! Thank you! Truly! Your participation adds a piece of your world, and I have to say, people are interested is seeing it. This entire challenge has opened up the world to me and so many others. Thank you again for being a part of all this!I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
