Good morning, travel and adventure lovers! Today I bring you a post full of beautiful landscapes. We're going to walk a trail called "Coastal Blue." It's an unofficial hike that starts from the road that goes to Creiro beach, following the street "ER379-1." We'll pass through two interesting forests with very different characteristics. One is Mediterranean and the other is semi-arid. The best attraction of the trail is all the landscapes of the mountains and the beaches, as well as enjoying the great biodiversity that the Sierra de Setubal has to offer.🏔️🌍🌄

Well I will try to cover everything about the trail, first the walk starts at the sign that tells us Portinho, there instead of crossing we will continue straight ahead! at these coordinates: (38.461082, -9.010452), the walk consists of a total of 3km, it is not long or demanding! It can be done with the whole family, suitable for children, I recommend bringing plenty of water, a hat, hiking boots and your choice of walking sticks! Try to take a conservationist behavior, do not break trees or take anything from nature, the best time of year to do this trail is in spring on days without rain.🚙🗺️🌄

This is a hike to admire and enjoy all aspects of Portugal's beauty. You have the chance to see the Atlantic Ocean, since you're at an altitude of over 180 meters. At the same time, you can admire the landscape, the mountains, the climate, and the animals the Sierra has to offer! There are some species that you can only find in the Montana de Setubal and that don't live anywhere else in the world! I always give as an example the "roca da arrabida," a type of stone native to the area that has been used since the medieval era.🧭🏔️

Troja Viewpoint🚙🌷/Mirador de Troja🌍🧭

viewpoint towards Troja🧭🏔️
We're going to make our first stop at this beautiful viewpoint called Mirador Troja. It's one of the main tourist attractions along this trail. It's right next to the N379-1 highway. Its name comes from the fact that this point in the mountains is one of the few places where we can fully and accurately observe the famous Troja Peninsula. This stretch of land is located in Setubal and is famous for its beaches and hotels. You can access the peninsula by car or boat.🌍

"Moinhas" caves🚙🌷/cuevas "moinhas"🌍🧭

This area, due to erosion and the properties of the mountain rocks, has led to the formation of several tunnels, caves, and crevices hundreds of meters deep. Some are as deep as 180 meters. This is why it attracts people who are addicted to extreme sports like climbing and caving! I don't have the tools to go down and explore the caves, but I do recommend stopping here to enjoy the power of nature. These caves are millions of years old.🌍🌷

Main beaches🚙🌷/Principales playas🌍🧭

With a stretch of almost 4km of beach, these are, in my opinion, the best beaches in Portugal. The trail allows us to photograph both Creiro and Portinho beaches, both very crowded in the summer. They have no waves and are ideal for any type of water activity, including kayaking and diving!🌅
I pass through the "mato do silencio" forest.🚙🌷/Paso por el Bosque "mato do silencio"🌍🧭

One of my favorite parts of the Blue Trail was passing through these woods. There are cork oak trees here that are very old! They are located in the middle of the Mediterranean rainforest. Here we see several layers of leaves and organic matter decorating the landscape. I feel cold, quiet, and humid in this area. I took the opportunity to sit and enjoy the forest for a while!🗺️🌅🌷

Road to the Atlantic coast🚙🌷/Camino a la costa atlantica🌍🧭

Boca do Lobo Viewpoint🏔️🧭
Well, friends, we've entered our second forest and here we are, following the blue trail. This one is marked! It's the most difficult and rugged part of the trail, but nothing special! We can see that there are no tall trees; the vegetation is lower and xerotic, but I suppose it's because we're in a very rocky area near the sea! I'm standing exactly at the "Boca do Lobo" viewpoint. I made this up because there's nothing to reference in GMaps. We're just going to be improvising.🌍

I'd never been to this area before! And the views are truly worth it. I reached the end of my hike and thoroughly enjoyed my experience today! What did you think? What was your favorite part? The beaches? The forests? The hillside?🏔️🌍🚙
