Hello adventurous friends! Today I am very excited because for the first time I visit the small city of Santa Maria da Feira, which is known for several famous tourist spots in Portugal and is that the most popular Christmas fair in the country is held here, as well as the medieval fair, both of which are available. once a year! Even though my visit did not coincide with one of these days, I was able to visit the main sites of interest in the city, starting with its castle! I think this castle culminates my tour in Portugal where I visited all the most important ones!🌍🧭🚙

A historical summary of the city🧭🌍/Un resumen historico de la ciudad🍍🚩

First of all, I'll tell you that my adventure in the city was quite short, let's say it was just passing through because I was on my way from Porto to Lisbon, of course I took the opportunity to visit the beautiful castle and the convent, the city of Santa Maria da Feira, like many others, is full. of history and since the medieval era Portuguese people lived in its streets, the records show that it was founded in 1515, however there are records in some places of Roman roads, that is, since the Roman era people lived in the city making it a magical place full of Portuguese history! best height of the year? maybe winter at Christmas, however any season has its special touch!🏰🚩🚙

Mother Church Espiritu Santos🧭🌍/Iglesia Matriz Convento do Espiritu Santos🍍🚩

My first stop and the one you cannot miss is to visit the mother church of the Holy Spirit which is part of the convent. Here the Christian congregation of João Evangelista was found or they were also known as friars, the construction of the church was carried out among the 19th-16th centuries to the 17th centuries, many of us think that wonderful things like these are built in years and that is not the case, a construction can pass through many kings as happened with this church, it is difficult to get the church open but if you are lucky you could explore it inside. It is full of relics dating from medieval times to the 17th century and its architecture is fantastic!🌍🚩🏰

architectural beauty🏰🚩

If you want to find the church then you can look for it here N 40º55'26.75" W 8º32'31.71", according to history the first stone that was laid in the church was in 1560 although this is not 100% reliable as there is little local history about the history From the church, however, the view is fantastic when you climb all the steps. Behind the church you have the convent and next to the convent, a beautiful and large square. If you continue, you will come across a museum of sacred art! It is very easy to access here and you have free parking!👀🧭🌏

Castle🧭🌍/Castillo🍍🚩

Welcome to the castle of Santa Maria da Feira, it is known for being one of the most complete in Portugal. Its advanced architecture classifies it as the castle that had the best defense in the entire country. It is also very evident that the municipal chamber invested a lot of money to maintain it. most original possible therefore it also wins the award of one of the best preserved in the country! His visit is approximately one hour when I came, as you can see, it is being remodeled due to a wall that fell so it cannot be accessed!🏰🧭🏯

The castle dates back to the 11th century and before being conquered by Portugal there was a Moorish fortification here, the architecture that predominates in the castle and which would be incorporated later highlights the Gothic style, here there are records that some of the battles were fought important from the north of the country such as Guimaraes granite stones and among other materials are part of the structure of the imposing castle!🏯🧭

Sanatorium🧭🌍/Sanatorio 🍍🚩

This is a sanatorium that is very famous because hydrotherapy was practiced there and 20 minutes from the city of Santa Maria da Feira there is another village that has several thermal pools that were used by all the civilizations that inhabited the city, the sanatorium He was one of the first to use hot water coming from the earth to heal some muscular diseases. It is also difficult to enter the sanatorium so we must enjoy it from the outside!🧭🌏

Don Carlos Park🧭🌍/Parque Don Carlos🍍🚩

Don Carlos Park, as its name indicates, is in homage to the great King Carlos, one of the great kings who made great advances in Portugal, both economically and militarily! The park is nice because it has a lagoon and other things to visit and spend a pleasant day if you want to have a picnic! The other thing that caught my attention is this complex of abandoned buildings and that we can do extreme tourism! It is an abandoned hotel from the 18th century that the municipal chamber currently wants to recover!🌏🚙

Impressive! Wonderful experience
