¡Hola amigos viajeros, feliz día! Espero que estén bien y que hayan tenido un buen día. Como les contaba en un post pasado, hace unos días atrás, tuve la oportunidad de visitar una ''nueva'' playa que recién inauguraron en la ciudad y es que aunque ''Puerto Mocho'' ya era conocido por los turistas y habitantes de la ciudad de Barranquilla, no era conocido como una playa turística, si no, como el lugar cerca de ''Bocas de ceniza'' donde el Mar Caribe se encuentra con el Río Magdalena, el cual es el río más importante de nuestro país.
La idea de recuperar y transformar este lugar inició en el 2024 y como tal abrió las puertas al público el 30 de Noviembre del año pasado. Puerto Mocho, era una playa que aunque no tan famosa como las otras playas que hay en la ciudad, era visitada por las personas de vez en cuando, sobre todo por los pescadores ya que debido a que se encuentra el mar de un lado y el río del otro es un buen lugar de pesca.
Y es que aunque este lugar ya tuvo su gran inauguración a finales del año pasado, no fue si no hasta ahora que decidimos ir a visitarlo y vaya sorpresa nos llevamos cuando al entrar al lugar vimos la cantidad de turistas que lo estaban visitando ese día. Nosotros decidimos ir en carro y al entrar al lugar, los guías turísticos nos dieron la opción de visitar la primera playa a la cual se debe ingresar bien sea en tren el cual en ese entonces tenía un costo de $10.000 pesos Colombianos ($2.32 Dólares) más un valor extra del parqueadero para dejar el carro, en bicicleta o caminando o también, podíamos seguir derecho hasta la segunda playa donde puede que no sea tan llamativa o esté tan organizada como la primera, pero se puede disfrutar de igual manera de un excelente almuerzo.
Hello fellow travelers, happy day! I hope you are well and that you had a good day. As I told you in a past post, a few days ago, I had the opportunity to visit a ''new'' beach that recently opened in the city and although ''Puerto Mocho'' was already known by tourists and inhabitants of the city of Barranquilla, it was not known as a tourist beach, but as the place near ''Bocas de ceniza'' where the Caribbean Sea meets the Magdalena River, which is the most important river in our country.
The idea of recovering and transforming this place started in 2024 and as such it opened its doors to the public on November 30th of last year. Puerto Mocho, was a beach that although not as famous as the other beaches in the city, was visited by people from time to time, especially by fishermen because of the sea on one side and the river on the other is a good fishing spot.
Although this place already had its grand opening at the end of last year, it was not until now that we decided to visit it and what a surprise we got when we entered the place we saw the number of tourists who were visiting that day. We decided to go by car and upon entering the place, the tour guides gave us the option to visit the first beach which must be entered either by train which at that time had a cost of $10,000 Colombian pesos ($2.32 dollars) plus an extra value of parking to leave the car, by bicycle or walking or also, we could go straight to the second beach where it may not be as striking or as organized as the first, but you can still enjoy an excellent lunch.
Mientras conducíamos hasta la segunda playa pudimos ver la pequeña estación del tren el cual es lo suficientemente grande para transportar aproximadamente a unas 60-70 personas. También, tuvimos la dicha de bajar los ventanales y disfrutar de la increíble brisa mientras por el camino admirábamos de un lado el río y del otro lado, el mar.
Por cierto, algo increíble que tiene este lugar a demás de ser un buen lugar de pesca, es que justo tiene conexión con el Ecoparque Mallorquín desde donde las personas pueden hacer tours por el río en pequeñas embarcaciones.
Por cierto, hablando un poco con personas del lugar nos contaban que a demás de tener sus casetas las cuales son los pequeños restaurantes donde venden los platillos estrellas del lugar, es decir, pescado, preparado de diversas maneras y para todos los gustos. También, parte de puerto mocho y bocas de cenizas era el lugar de vivienda para algunas personas en su mayoría pescadores.
As we drove to the second beach we could see the small train station which is big enough to transport approximately 60-70 people. Also, we had the joy of rolling down the windows and enjoying the incredible breeze while on the way we admired the river on one side and the sea on the other side.
By the way, something incredible that this place has, besides being a good fishing spot, is that it has a connection with the Ecoparque Mallorquín from where people can take tours on the river in small boats.
By the way, talking a little bit with local people we were told that besides having their booths which are small restaurants where they sell the star dishes of the place, ie fish, prepared in various ways and for all tastes. Also, part of Puerto Mocho and Boca de Cenizas is the place where some people, mostly fishermen, live.
Nuestra idea luego de almorzar en el lugar, era visitar el final de bocas de cenizas donde se tiene la dicha de admirar mejor el momento exacto donde el río y el mar se encuentran, sin embargo, no se mezclan. Para poder ir hasta dicho encuentro se debe tomar una moto ya que es un camino más angosto y no está en tan buen estado como el del inicio, pero no hay problema para conseguir transporte ya que hay muchos conductores listos para llevarte al pequeño tour. Aunque les cuento que nos dio un poco de temor ya que había mucho viento así que decidimos dejarlo para otro momento.
Sin duda, en este lugar pudimos disfrutar de deliciosa comida, de un refrescante coco frío y de las maravillas que tiene nuestra tierra. Aunque es un proyecto que aún no ha finalizado y poco a poco va mejorando, nos alegró mucho ver como va quedando, sobre todo porque lograron rescatar un lugar que se estaba quedando en el olvido, a demás de que su idea es priorizar y garantizar el desarrollo sostenible de Puerto Mocho así como proteger las especies nativas que se encuentran cerca de esta playa.
Our idea after having lunch at the place, was to visit the end of bocas de cenizas where you have the chance to admire better the exact moment where the river and the sea meet, however, they do not mix. In order to go to this meeting you must take a motorcycle because it is a narrower road and is not in as good condition as the beginning, but there is no problem to get transportation as there are many drivers ready to take you to the small tour. Although I tell you that we were a little scared because it was very windy so we decided to leave it for another time.
Undoubtedly, in this place we were able to enjoy delicious food, a refreshing cold coconut and the wonders of our land. Although it is a project that has not yet been completed and is gradually improving, we were very happy to see how it is going, especially because they managed to rescue a place that was being forgotten, besides their idea is to prioritize and ensure the sustainable development of Puerto Mocho and protect native species found near this beach.
