¿Y cómo está toda mi gente linda de Pinmapple? de seguro muchos de ustedes viajaron mucho en esta navidad pasada y ya están preparando su mochila para irse a conocer otro sitio maravilloso de los que día tras día podemos ver aquí en la comunidad.
I invite you to know a little piece of my Andean land.
And how are all my beautiful people of Pinmapple? Surely many of you traveled a lot this past Christmas and are already preparing your backpack to go to know another wonderful place that day after day we can see here in the community.
Hoy vengo a contarles del más reciente viaje que hice a uno de mis estados favoritos en toda Venezuela, se llama Táchira y es un lugar privilegiado porque de allí nació esta belleza andina que soy yo.
El estado Táchira se encuentra al Oeste del país y tiene la ventaja de limitar con el país vecino Colombia. Me gustaría contarles de las maravillosas ventajas que dejaba esta característica en otros tiempos de democracia, ya que en verdad era ventaja y por ende teníamos una economía productiva, pero la verdad es que con este gobierno todo ha cambiado y en estos momentos todas las fronteras con el país están cerradas por problemas políticos y los más afectados son los ciudadanos de a pie.
Today I come to tell you about the most recent trip I made to one of my favorite states in all of Venezuela, it is called Táchira and it is a privileged place because that is where this Andean beauty that I am was born.
The state of Táchira is located in the west of the country and has the advantage of bordering the neighboring country of Colombia. I would like to tell you about the wonderful advantages that this feature left in other times of democracy, because it was really advantageous and therefore we had a productive economy, but the truth is that with this government everything has changed and now all the borders with the country are closed due to political problems and the most affected are the ordinary citizens.
Pero hoy no nos vamos a referir a las cosas malas, hoy vamos a resaltar lo bueno y lo bonito de un estado que se ha negado a morir.
Mi viaje de este año ha sido el más corto de todos, así que traté de aprovecharlo al máximo este tiempo y Salí a dar unas cuantas vueltas para fotografiar unos lugares bonitos. Además este año había más sol y eso fue una gran ventaja.
But today we are not going to refer to the bad things, today we are going to highlight the good and the beautiful of a state that has refused to die.
My trip this year has been the shortest of all, so I tried to make the most of this time and went out for a few laps to photograph some beautiful places. Also this year there was more sunshine and that was a great advantage.
El Táchira tiene muchas cosas buenas, pero su atractivo principal es su gente, la verdad es que lo hacen sentir a uno como en familia, como si lo conocieran a uno de toda la vida.
Táchira has many good things, but its main attraction is its people, the truth is that they make you feel like family, as if they have known you all your life.
Para ir de Caracas al Táchira hay que manejar unas 15 horas aproximadamente, pueden ser menos o más, todo depende de la cantidad de paradas que hagas. Es muy bonito hacer el trayecto en carro propio porque te da la oportunidad de pararte y ver los paisajes, comer lo que quieras, visitar algunos sitios en particular y eso me encanta. Lo bueno es que tengo un esposo cariñoso y complaciente que sabe cuánto amo tomar fotografías para luego hacer mis post para Hive.
To go from Caracas to Táchira you have to drive about 15 hours, it can be less or more, it all depends on the number of stops you make. It is very nice to make the trip in your own car because it gives you the opportunity to stop and see the landscapes, eat whatever you want, visit some particular places and I love that. The good thing is that I have a loving and accommodating husband who knows how much I love taking pictures to then do my posts for Hive.
A continuación les haré un breve resumen de la visita que hice a los pueblos de San pedro del Rio, Michelena, Lobatera, Colon y los campos andinos.
The following is a brief summary of my visit to the towns of San Pedro del Rio, Michelena, Lobatera, Colon and the Andean countryside.
San pedro del Rio
San Pedro del Río se encuentra ubicado al Norte de San Cristóbal en el Estado Táchira- Venezuela, entre san Juan de Colón y Lobatera.
Es un pueblo hermoso, lleno de tradición. Este pueblo de estilo Colonial fue fundado entre 1840 y 1850 y debe su nombre al santo patrono y al rio Chiriri que pasa por su costado.
San Pedro del Rio
San Pedro del Rio is located north of San Cristobal in the state of Tachira, Venezuela, between San Juan de Colon and Lobatera.
It is a beautiful town, full of tradition. This Colonial style town was founded between 1840 and 1850 and owes its name to the patron saint and the Chiriri River that runs along its side.
Ir al Táchira y no pasar un rato en san pedro es un pecado mortal, no tiene perdón el que haga esto. Estar aquí es trasladarse en el tiempo; si amigos, las calles y sus casas siguen estando idénticas, ver y detallar a San Pedro es pensar en cada una de las personas que hicieron posible su construcción. Las calles están hechas de piedra, toda traída del rio que les comente anteriormente, el frente de las casas está pintado de blanco y tienen grandes ventanales de colores verdes, marrones azul o rojo.
Going to Táchira and not spending some time in San Pedro is a mortal sin, there is no forgiveness for those who do this. To be here is to move in time; yes friends, the streets and houses are still identical, to see and detail San Pedro is to think of each one of the people who made its construction possible. The streets are made of stone, all brought from the river that I mentioned before, the front of the houses are painted white and have large windows of green, brown, blue or red colors.
Lo que encanta y embellece cada rincón son los detalles, cada casa tiene grandes materos de barro donde siembran plantas de trinitarias de todos colores.
San pedro se ha convertido en un pueblo turístico por excelencia, hay posadas, baños, restaurantes, venta de dulces típicos, ventas de artesanías donde puedes comprar cualquier detalle para llevar a tus amigos.
What enchants and embellishes every corner are the details, each house has large earthenware pots where they sow trinitario plants of all colors.
Pedro has become a tourist town par excellence, there are inns, baths, restaurants, sale of typical sweets, craft sales where you can buy any detail to take to your friends.
Por la parte de abajo puedes conseguir “La Muralla” donde hay diferentes ventas de pasteles y tragos típicos (bebidas espirituosas) o un rico chocolate para calentarte si hace frio, también ofrecen paseos a caballos y por si fuera poco hay un parque infantil donde encontraras una rueda de la fortuna muy graciosa y curiosa.
At the bottom you can get "La Muralla" where there are different sales of cakes and typical drinks (spirits) or a delicious chocolate to warm you up if it is cold, they also offer horse rides and if that was not enough there is a playground where you will find a very funny and curious wheel of fortune.
Este cálido pueblo ha servido de ejemplo para muchos pueblos del Táchira, estoy segura que sí. ¡Ah! Pero no crean que ellos viven solo del turismo ¡No! Porque gracias a sus montañas, su clima también se sustentan de la agricultura y la ganadería.
This warm town has served as an example for many towns in Táchira, I'm sure it has, but don't think that they live only from tourism, no! Thanks to its mountains and climate, they also sustain themselves from agriculture and cattle raising.
San juan de Colón
Ahora me gustaría mostrarle a Colón, este pueblo fue donde mi madre me dio a luz hace unos cuantos años ya.
Siempre he dicho que Salí de este pueblo por la necesitar de trabajar y crecer en todos los aspectos, pero s mi suerte hubiese sido otra de seguro jamás me hubiese ido de allí. Amar es la palabra que describe lo que siento por este pedacito de tierra donde fui tan feliz.
San Juan de Colón
Now I would like to show you Colon, this town was where my mother gave birth to me a few years ago already.
I have always said that I left this town because I needed to work and grow in all aspects, but if my luck had been different, I would have never left for sure. Love is the word that describes what I feel for this little piece of land where I was so happy.
Colon tiene un clima fresco, está rodeado de muchas montañas; aunque no es un sitio turístico por excelencia es muy visitado ya que por su costado pasan dos vías de comunicación muy importantes que conectan con los estados Mérida, Zulia y como les dije Colombia también.
Sus calles son muy amplias, todo es limpio, ordenado, la gente es educada, cariñosa.
Colon has a cool climate, it is surrounded by many mountains; although it is not a tourist site par excellence it is very visited since two very important roads pass by its side that connect with the states of Merida, Zulia and as I told you Colombia as well.
Its streets are very wide, everything is clean, tidy, the people are polite, affectionate.
Este año pude ir a visitar la iglesia y asistir a una de las misas de aguinaldos, lo que más me gusto de esta experiencia es haber visto a tanta gente que hace rato no veía. Este año la iglesia recibió mucho cariño por parte de la comunidad, eta recién pintada y tiene una decoración navideña asombrosa.
This year I was able to visit the church and attend one of the aguinaldos masses, what I liked the most about this experience was seeing so many people that I had not seen for a long time. This year the church received a lot of love from the community, it was freshly painted and has an amazing Christmas decoration.
También fui al mercado municipal, aquí compré muchas cosas que me gustan como papelón de caña de azúcar, especies para aliñar las comidas y por supuesto verduras, carne y pollo, todo muy fresco, como recién salido del corral.
I also went to the municipal market, here I bought many things that I like such as sugar cane paprika, spices for seasoning food and of course vegetables, meat and chicken, all very fresh, as if just out of the barnyard.
Cúcuta- Colombia.
Como les dije el Táchira está muy cerca de Colombia, en mi caso me queda a solo media hora desde la finca de mi madre, así que vamos y venimos a cada rato, la verdad este año fui solo dos veces ya que tengo a mi hermano allá hospitalizado desde hace un mes por una condición en su columna que le impide caminar. Es gracias a estos convenios de salud a la que llaman “ayuda humanitaria” que muchos venezolanos reciben este tipo de beneficios.
Cúcuta es muy bonita, tengo muy buenos recuerdos de esta ciudad, aquí compramos ropa, zapatos, equipos eléctricos, de todo se puede conseguir en estas calles y son muchos los venezolanos que han emigrado a estas tierras debido a la situación de nuestro país.
As I told you Tachira is very close to Colombia, in my case it is only half an hour away from my mother's farm, so we come and go all the time, the truth is that this year I went only twice because my brother has been hospitalized there for a month for a condition in his spine that prevents him from walking. It is thanks to these health agreements which they call "humanitarian aid" that many Venezuelans receive this type of benefits.
Cúcuta is very beautiful, I have very good memories of this city, here we buy clothes, shoes, electrical equipment, everything is available in these streets and there are many Venezuelans who have migrated to this land due to the situation in our country.
Michelena
En otro día tuve la dicha y fortuna de poder visitar a mi comadre Coromoto que hace 16 años no veía, aquí les confieso que no es porque no quiera hacerlo, es que el tema de la gasolina en Venezuela nos ha reprimido el deseo de salir, ya que no se consigue.
En Michelena tengo mucha familia, me gusta visitar a mi primo Onésimo quien tiene una finca ganadera y producen un queso sabroso.
Cuando pasas por la avenida principal de Michelena puedes encontrarte con la famosa estatua de quien fuera presidente de la república en los años 50. Esta estatua es un homenaje hecho por la gente de su pueblo natal y mide más de 8 metros.
On another day I had the joy and fortune to visit my comadre Coromoto that I have not seen for 16 years, here I confess that it is not because I do not want to do it, is that the issue of gasoline in Venezuela has repressed the desire to go out, since it is not available.
In Michelena I have a lot of family, I like to visit my cousin Onésimo who has a cattle farm and produces a tasty cheese.
When you go through the main avenue of Michelena you can find the famous statue of the man who was president of the republic in the 50's. This statue is a tribute made in honor of the president of Michelena. This statue is a tribute made by the people of his hometown and measures more than 8 meters.
Lobatera
Este hermoso pueblo tachirense es donde está ubicado el liceo donde muchos niños del campo venían a estudiar, recuerdo que mis primos, hermanos tenían que hacer una hora de camino, levantarse a las 4 de la mañana para poder llegar a tiempo en un camión que tenia de transporte y que los llevaba y traía cada día. Siempre voy admirar a estos chicos porque eran ejemplo para muchos otros que Vivian ahí cerca del pueblo y no salían muy bien en sus estudios.
En Lobatera están sepultados los restos de mi padre y muchos amigos también; es por eso que religiosamente cada año hago este recorrido antes de partir nuevamente a la ciudad capital.
This beautiful town of Tachira is where the high school is located where many children from the countryside came to study, I remember that my cousins and brothers had to walk for an hour, getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning to be able to arrive on time in a truck that took them to and from school every day. I will always admire these boys because they were an example for many others who lived near the town and did not do very well in their studies.
In Lobatera are buried the remains of my father and many friends too; that is why every year I religiously make this trip before leaving again to the capital city.
El mundo que compartimos nos ha sido dado en confianza.
The world we share has been given to us in trust.
Aquí me pudiera quedar sentada horas y horas contándole de mis anécdotas, pero es mejor dejarlo hasta aquí por hoy. La verdad es que Venezuela tiene muchas cosas buenas que resaltan y no debemos fijarnos en lo malo. Así que si te animas a visitarnos de seguro serás bienvenido. Aquí el único riesgo de venir a conocer al Táchira es que te quieras quedar.
I could sit here for hours and hours telling you my anecdotes, but it is better to leave it here for today. The truth is that Venezuela has many good things that stand out and we should not focus on the bad. So if you dare to visit us you will surely be welcome. Here the only risk of coming to Táchira is that you will want to stay.

He tenido oportunidades para quedarme en San Cristóbal, bueno podría incluso considerar que tuve una temporada viviendo allá.
Literal si fuera por mi lo haría, pero a su vez de mi dependen tantas personas y situaciones que sencillamente se me hace imposible tomar mis cosas e irme de Caracas.
La gente, la gastronomía, el clima, la cultura, en fin.
Lastima los inconvenientes que han tenido que sufrir con el tema de la electricidad o el combustible, no merecen ese sufrimiento.
