For a single unemployed person, with no children, over 22 years old, the JobSeeker Payment is just $565.70 a fortnight.

I'm serious.

Oh wow this is quite something

Yep. They do pretty well here...The bums who don't want to work. The problem is the genuinely unemployed often struggle as they have mortgages and commitments based on their previous wages and the unemployment benefits isn't enough usually. I wonder who is smarter though, the lazy bastards who don't want to work and live within their means, or the workers who live beyond?

Funny thing, I was wondering about the same idea. I guess that life is often not fair and there will always be people who will search and find an easy way out. From an ethical point of view we might say that it is horrible. From a detached point of view we could say that we should hate the game and not the player. I believe in a society where everybody pulls their weight. But nowadays that kind of society looks more like utopia. Things are changing. People adapt. In various ways to the degree of discomfort they are willing to take.

Humans are becoming lazier, more dependent and reliant on others and this is evidenced in many aspects of life. We can't cook for ourselves, can't make things, can't solve problems externally or with our own emotional and mental state of being, have lost touch with nature, and generally can't think for ourselves...I mean generally speaking of course. Sure, some can do some of those things...But it wasn't so long ago when most people were much more capable in general. Now, we have to google it and even then we want someone else to provide the service rather than do it ourselves.

And so, people are happy to sit around whilst others go and do things, earn money and pay taxes to provide for them.

We'll be extinct soon though...Just my thought on the matter though, one that time will prove right, or wrong.

Hmmm I agree on the degree of comfortability that people got used to. With so much technology around to do our chores, one would expect more use of the human brain. Unfortunately it didn't happen. Becoming too lazy to use your own mind to the benefit of your existence is a dangerous path for humanity...

...And is a path that humans are a long way along already*. I'll be dead in 20-25 years from now so it's won't matter for me but those that are left...Well, life is set to be dramatically different. This about how much it has changed around the world in the last 12 months alone! Sure, maybe not for everyone, but generally the world is vastly changed.
