Biga Pit is a mining area with an open pit located in Barangay Biga, Toledo City, Cebu, Philippines. The view from this intriguing decommissioned copper mining pit has drawn people of all ages. According to locals, the turquoise water is liveable by various creatures including fish like Tilapia but it is not advisable for swimming. The site is occasionally used to detonate bombs recovered from various locations throughout the province.

Of course, viewing sites such as lakes and mining towns such as Biga are spectacular when viewed from higher ground. Biga Pit in Toledo is not for recreational activities and is primarily used for educational purposes, such as field trips by schools and other educational institutions studying any related fields, including geo-science.

We had previously stopped here on our way to Lake Bensis two weeks ago. We used the Waze app, which led us in the wrong direction. We saw two burnt cars and a sink hole, which reminded us of a salvage incident in our hometown where the victims were discovered inside burnt cars, which was a crazy - nerve-racking experience we will never forget and ending up having only few pictures on the place. Maybe we just overthink that time but better safe than sorry, right? :D

Furthermore, because the pit is dangerous, no one is allowed to enter it. For more information, please make sure you've contacted the site's authorities ahead of time if you intend to enter for personal reasons. If you want to go, bring sunblock or sunscreen, sunglasses, an umbrella or cap, water, and snacks. Be responsible for your own trash and bring it with you. However, keep in mind that this is a private establishment and that you are responsible for your own safety if you visit.

¡Muchas gracias !

Place looks amazing. Hopefully it's not hot there.

It's truly hot in there but we couldn't feel it because of the mesmerizing view in front of us. Thanks for dropping by.

Halaaaaaa kanindot!

Yess nindot siya. Mura kag naa sa gawas. Hehe

I guess apart from the smooth surfaces of the basin, everything else looks quite nice. The water colour seems a bit green though, is that how it looks with the naked eye?

Hello thank you so much for appreciating. The water looks like torquoise color in the actual.😊

Ohmyyy this place looks so amazing! It feels like you aren't in Cebu 😍

Yes! It has a resemblance of lakes in New Zealand but the only difference is that this is a man made lake. Thanks for dropping by.
