Escaping the Hustle: Our Selinog Island Adventure

Being a teacher comes with so much responsibility. It’s never easy, you really have to manage your time well, and sometimes it feels like you don’t have any time left for yourself. There are days I just wish I could stay in my room, sleep, eat, and not go anywhere. Honestly, I even dream of taking a whole month leave from my work just to recharge and unwind.
That’s why my circle of friends, my team production family planned a trip to a beautiful island. We all needed that little escape before classes start again since it’s still vacation time. And here we go.

From Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur, we traveled three hours to Dapitan City. From there, the adventure really began. We had to ride a small ship going to Selinog Island. It was exciting but also nerve-racking because we encountered big waves. My excitement eventually turned into nervousness filled with “what ifs.”

But when we got closer to the island, that fear slowly faded and turned back into excitement. The view of Selinog Island from afar was so breathtaking and it really captured my heart.
We had already booked a house for an overnight stay, and of course, we brought food, fruits, and our swimsuits. My “Team Production” family and my amazing travel buddies really prepared everything for us.

What makes this island extra special is the peace it gives. There’s no phone signal, no electricity (though they do have solar panels where you can charge your phone if needed). It’s the perfect place if you want to disconnect from the noise and just be present.

Our first day started with a delicious lunch with fresh fruits and other local food that was surprisingly affordable. The water was so clear and inviting that you can’t help but jump in for a swim.
We even went around the island by riding a bicycle. The funny thing is, I don’t know how to ride a bicycle hahahahah, so I ended up walking alone while my friends biked ahead. Along the way, one of my friends asked me to ride with her. It was such a challenge and honestly funny because maybe I’m too heavy hahah and it made biking a little harder for her hahahaha.

Selinog is truly worth visiting. If you ever get the chance, I’m sure you’d fall in love with it too.

Y'all deserve this guys, especially after all the tiring days of moments or ganapan as a busy teacher. Dapat talaga required din yong 1 month leave with pay eh. Bat di nila to ginagawa no? Kahit like 1 month rest every two years ba, dibaaaa?

Anyways the place y'all choose looks amazing. Makakapag relax ka talaga ng malala dyan. Everyone had fun, kita naman sa mga ngiti ninyo ✨✨

Yeah. I wish that someday, Deped would realize that teachers needs to refresh. We would be given vacation leave.

Such a perfect escape! 💖 Every teacher deserves a trip like this to recharge 🙌 The island looks absolutely stunning, and the fact that there's no signal makes you appreciate its beauty 💕

Yeah true

I understand the feeling; my mom is a teacher, so she doesn't have much time. But she always does her best to share it with us.
I'm glad this wonderful trip went well for you; you deserve it for the admirable work you do every day.

Thank you

It's a beautiful place to relax and unwind.

What a beautiful escape you had. Love how clear the water is and the white sandy beach.
