That was a really interesting read. It brought me right back to my own travels through Europe in the late 70s, the unwelcome male attention and thankfully, the occasional kindness of strangers. In my grandfather’s house the lavatory was outside, and strips of newspaper dangled from a hook for toilet paper. At night it was the chamber pot, or the ‘po,’ as it was called.

Thank you for reading and for enjoying! I think the 60s and 70s were on the cusp of a more modern Europe. Although, when my mother-in-law visited her brothers in Roscommon for years after she described a home that hadn't changed in a hundred years.
