Ok to be honest it’s the second day but flying in over 26 hours yesterday was a wash out I got to the City from the airport thanks to some some friends, Yum & Phil, who picked me up at the airport and took me to the hotel, we had a late lunch and a beer, unpacked and then I crashed.
So today it’s essentials day getting my bearings, a bit of shopping and that will be it. First things first I’m staying at the Rendezvous Heritage Hotel in Downtown Auckland, it’s close enough to the harbour viaduct area so great for restaurants.

The room is enormous with cooking facilities and a fridge.
The decor is a bit 70s but the huge windows too with some great views if you ignore the car park.
First coffee and breakfast at a small coffee bar across the street.
It was time good wander around the Marina area.
Lots of very nice boats.
It was lunchtime at the Soul bar by the marinas. It’s very highly rated and I wouldn’t normally pay around £50 for lunch but it really was very good even if the waiter had to move me a way from a very loud bunch at the next table, he did say he wouldn’t be happy to sit there. Bit expensive but I’ll defiantly be back for lunch again before I leave, I saw a few things on the menu that I wanted to try.
Lunch done so time to wander back to the hotel for a coffee and a jet lag afternoon nap so I’m awake enough to go out and eat dinner.

Even with that long flight, you managed to fit in some essentials and a bit of wandering. The hotel is awesome, and the marina area is such a vibe.
Was flagging a bit around 4 but the beer helped.
Ahh! Glad it gave you a boost!😀

It’s a lovely place their airport customs is a bit weird, seconds to get through imagination and an hour to get through customs having to declare ny walking shoes and trekking pole I use as a walking stick as biohazard item was a new one on me.
At one moment, I had an idea to move to NZ with my family... I mean, it's a great place for living, but I was forgetting about that 24+ hour trip to get there! You did well to crash after it and to take it slowly on your first day!
Have a great weekend!
