RE: Iron Bay Restaurant & Drinkery: Marquette, MI

I dont think she's picky, but more selective, which is a whole different thing. I lived on fish or chicken wraps and yes, indeed, it gets old!

I love Houghton/ Hancock, but having been there in the winter? No thank you!! I would definitely live in Marquette or Munising. I love many places up there. Too bad the economy is nonexistant for locals.

Munising is nice too. It's a bit too cramped for the number of tourists though. I feel like Marquette is spread out enough that there is room for everyone. I know you have relatives in Munising so that probably makes a difference! Manistique is a nice little town too and they have a Clyde's. It's gotta be hard living there year round for all the reasons you mentioned. I see tech openings in the schools pretty frequently.

Munising is a cute little town but, you are right. My relatives all bought vacation homes up there and one of my brothers moved up there permanently, but they are thinking this might be too cold to live all year round down the road. Because he travels a lot with his job, they get out of the UP about 5 months a year. Marquette is spread out enough, but, it sure has grown from the first time I went up there. Fast forward ten years...

For sure! I remember going up there about 20 to 25 years ago and I almost didn't recognize some of the areas. It was also winter when I was up there that time, so things were even more dead.

Me too, probably 23 years... I was talking fast forward ten more years as peoplecare escaping the cities still. It will get bigger and more crowded.

You know, progress!
