ABANDONDED JAIL IN CHAITEN
Chaitén es una pequeña comuna en el Sur de Chile. En el año 2008 fue azotada por la furia del volcán homónimo que la dejó enterrada en cenizas convirtiéndola prácticamente en un pueblo fantasma. Sin embargo, luego de diversos estudios el gobierno decidió refundar la localidad en el año 20019 y la mayoría de sus habitantes regresaron y levantaron nuevamente el pueblo trabajando de forma comunitaria.

Chaitén is a small town in southern Chile. In 2008 it was hit by the fury of the volcano of the same name that left it buried in ashes, turning it into a ghost town. However, after several studies, the government decided to refound the town in 20019 and most of its inhabitants returned and rebuilt the town working as a community.
Luego de la erupción volcánica la cárcel fue trasladada a Futalefú quedando este edificio abandonado.
Cuando el pueblo fue refundado y gendarmería volvió para retirar los mobiliarios que habían quedado se encontraron con que las puertas habían sido forzadas y la cárcel completamente vaciada.

After the volcanic eruption, the jail was moved to Futalefu and the building was abandoned.
When the town was refounded and the gendarmerie returned to remove the furniture that had been left behind, they found that the doors had been forced and the prison completely emptied.
En las celdas pueden verse vestigios de personas que la transitan. Los lugareños dicen que viajeros la utilizan para alojarse por algunas noches.

Traces of people passing through can be seen in the cells. Locals say that travelers use it to stay for a few nights.
En lugares como éste siento como si las paredes hablaran. No sólo por la energía hostil que vibra si no también por los grafittis en sus paredes,
por la basura que se encuentra tirada.
Imagino las historias que pasaron por ahí y a veces me pregunto si es realmente imaginación o si acaso es tan intensa la frecuencia del aire que se me presentan imágenes en forma de revelación.

In places like this I feel as if the walls speak. Not only because of the hostile energy that vibrates but also because of the graffiti on the walls,
by the garbage that is found lying around.
I imagine the stories that passed through there and sometimes I wonder if it is really imagination or if the frequency of the air is so intense that images are presented to me in the form of a revelation.
