Bur Oregon : The Exotic Natural Beauty is Covered By Poor Facilities.

Hello and Hello again Travellers, how are you ?

Actually, today I want to continue about my journey in Takengon city, Central Aceh, Indonesia. Well, from my post yesterday about Bintang Resort : The Three Blends Beauty of Nature, there is one tourist spot that is also a tourist icon in Takengon and near to Lut Tawar Lake, the name is Pante Menye, but the enthusiasm of the visitors makes this place very crowded and it's not good to introduce it at this time. Don't know what's next. This made me give up on going from there. So, let's now continue the journey by exploring some of the attractions around Lake Lut Tawar and one of the objects on the top of a mountain called Bur Oregon.

In the pas, Oregon was an access road used by a company operating under the name PT Kertas Kraft Aceh (KKA). However, when the armed conflict between the Indonesian Government and the Aceh Independence Movement occurred, this road access was abandoned so that it returned to being a bush. Then why called Oregon? Check out my following explanation.

History behind the name of Bur Oregon

Bur is a Gayo language which means hill or it could be the highest peak of the mountains, but I don't know why the name of this hill is named Oregon, actually, a tourist spot will be named the closest to the culture of the place. But Oregon?? this is a little foreign and has nothing to do with the original language in Gayo.

After trying to trace the origin of this Oregon name, I found very little information. The first Oregon origin is a mystical story about a scary old granny named "Datu Oregon". Datu is the great-grandmother and Oregon is the name of the great-grandmother. The truth is still doubtful, of course, I think it's can not be logical. The second information is that Oregon has existed for a long time and is the road used to bring Uyem (damar/pine) from Linge District to Kerule. Finally, according to local people's stories, this peak is similar to one of the mountain peaks in the United States called Oregon, so it is given a similar name as Bur Oregon.

Apart from the last three pieces of information above, the origin of the name has never been debated, because anyone who comes here will agree that the natural beauty of Takengon will be recorded very clearly. Mountains and clouds seemed to dance together, trees and lakes seemed to compliment each other's beauty, and these two cities separated by the top of this hill seemed to look at each other like lovers who had just met. The cool breeze and the expanse of green scenery like each other and encourage themselves to always be grateful. Oh, how beautiful. I see and feel how lucky I am right now.

It's so easy to come to Bur Oregon.

Yup, that's absolutely true. Getting to high places isn't always difficult, Bur Oregon is quite well known among tourist travelers. If you depart from the capital city of Takengon, you only need about 30 minutes to reach the highest point of this hill. Btw, you have to use a private vehicle here but don't worry because now the road is very good. Goodbye rocky roads and welcome asphalt roads. The current conditions for this place are still a bit the same as before. It's quiet and on either side of the road, there are only coffee gardens and flowers that grow beautifully by themselves.

You just need to be more careful because the road is twisting and always going up so you need speed when shifting your vehicle. Along this road, there are several good photo spots with the background of Lake Lut Tawar, and there have been inns built independently by the residents here. But that's not a destination, because what I want to introduce is Bur Oregon, the highest place to enjoy the natural scenery, seeing two counties that are adjacent and separated by this hill.

What did you find at Bur Oregon?

Btw, you can use two alternative routes to come here, the first route is through the Takengon City route by passing Loyang Mendale, while the second route is to get to the top of Oregon, visitors can use the Muyang Kute Hospital intersection which is located in Kampung Kute Kering, Bener Meriah Regency. Actually, each route that I mentioned earlier, only takes about 30 to 45 minutes.

From the bottom, I had imagined the beautiful view from the top of this hill, and it was proven when I got here. I saw many beautiful things here, but I was very surprised because the beautiful things I saw earlier did not make me feel at home here long. It's weird, I like the view, but I don't like being here long. Why could be like that?

Another advantage of this place is its position in the middle and separates two large districts in the Gayo highlands. in the north you will see the beautiful city of Takengon, there are lakes and mountains. While in the southern part there is Bener Meriah Regency where previously this district was still one district with Central Aceh.Perhatikan dua kabupaten ini dalam gambar berikut... here we go

Yes, my expectations did not run smoothly on this, because above this only a few seats were provided, there was no place to relax, the food and beverage seller was only a small shop, and it seemed that the photo spot facilities were not well maintained. Toilets are also not representative even if you are on a hot and rainy day, you will get a hard effort time finding shelter. I tried to ask the shop owner, why are the facilities here so minimal. I think this is very contrary to the extraordinary beauty displayed by nature here.

According to the snack seller here, this place is preserved by the youth of Tingkem village on a self-funded basis. The presence of the government in managing this place is still very, very lacking. Although the government here lists this place as a tourist destination, their attention in providing facilities has not been maximized. This is important because this place must become a tourist destination that must be protected and enforced by regulations that prohibit it in order to preserve the local nature and provide good facilities so that more visitors and people's income will increase.

Suggestions and feedback

My advice if you come to this place, then bring food and drinks, and don't forget to capture the beauty of nature with your camera. Your vehicle must also be really healthy because the road is uphill to a height of 1800 MDPL. Be careful when it comes down and don't go when it's raining.

I hope this article also uploads the heart of the local government to pay more attention to this place because the prospects are high so it must be supported by good facilities. Hopefully, one day comes here again and find this place has changed to be more representative.
