Earlier I wrote a series of posts about my trip to St. Petersburg. It did not include a story about a trip to the Hermitage, the main museum of St. Petersburg and one of the largest art museums in the world. But I would like to tell you a little about the impressions of visiting this place.
To walk through this museum and stop at each exhibit for at least 10 seconds, one would have to spend more than one decade here. How many things are located inside these walls. Each exhibit is worthy of attention, but, unfortunately, we did not have enough time, devoting only one day to the Hermitage.
We visited the exhibition "The Gold Pantry of the Treasure Gallery". This exhibition is held under the strict supervision of security, video cameras. Inside, you cannot take pictures and separate from a small group of only 5 people. What we saw inside is very impressive. Various finds from burials from the time of ancient Greece and Sarmatian gold, products of masters of India, China, Iran. Expensive gifts made to the royal family by representatives of various countries. Wonderfully preserved, skillfully crafted gold jewelry with a variety of precious stones and metals. The techniques that were possessed in those days, it seems to me, were significantly superior to those of today.
Then we continued our route through the main halls of the Hermitage. We saw beautiful paintings, jewelry, household items and life of people from different eras. Different expositions replaced one another, so many impressions in one day it was false to put in my head. I saw 3 or 4 real mummies! It was a bit of a shock for me. I did not dare to photograph them, because I am very superstitious about such photos.
I would like to come back here more than once to visit every corner of this beautiful place, to devote more time to each hall of the Hermitage.
