We made a visit to Padley Gorge in Derbyshire, UK to get some autumnal shots. It's a beautiful, mystical place, especially this time of year when the colours of the trees are changing. It was a photographer's dream and it definitely didn't disappoint.
The place has it all, with cascading streams, pools, little wooden bridges and winding paths into the wood.
There was also quite a few abandoned millstones dotted around the place. They mostly date from the 18th and 19th century and were used for grinding grains into flour. They look quite intriguing especially when they are covered in lichen and moss.
The wet weather had brought the fungi out. The leaves look great but in places it can get very slippy underfoot, especially over the rocks and tree roots.
We saw some gnarly looking trees in the wood. Very spooky. Just perfect for Halloween. As lovely as it was, I'm glad I wasn't walking through there at night. The only thing that was missing was a hobbit!
