We Explored the West Bay Beach in Dorset, UK as seen on TV's 'Broadchurch'

in Worldmappin8 months ago (edited)

While we were in the area, we called in at the West Bay Beach in Dorset, UK. There was a lovely harbour with a choice of pubs, ice cream parlours, cafes, and fish and chip shops.

We managed to park up easily and made the short walk to the shingled beach. The pooch wouldn't move until his mummy caught up with us.

For UK viewers, this is the resort that the television murder mystery 'Broadchurch' was filmed. I definitely recognised the cliffs in the distance that featured in some of the episodes.

There's some good walks from here along the South Coast path, but you have to enjoy walking up steep hills, so it was a no no from me, especially when one of the paths runs close to the edge of the cliffs. I'd also heard there had been a few accidents at the top. I wouldn't walk along the bottom of the cliffs either as there'd obviously been some recent rock falls.

To say it was a lovely, sunny day there was hardly anyone out. It was much better than an over -crowded beach to navigate around. There wasn't an awful amount to see but it was nice to pop in and have a look around the resort.

And of course, it wouldn't have been the same without the pooch digging a hole in the sand. I was concerned he was trying to bury a dead body but thankfully nobody got murdered!

I love visiting places that have been used as filming locations. I’ve not been to this one though. Looks beautiful.

I do too. I think it makes it more interesting some how.

Wow, this beach is wonderful. The photographs are top notch. Thanks for sharing ☺️
