We’ve been working a lot last few months and even if we already booked our next vacations, we couldn’t wait to take a break. So, we decided to go and spend a weekend at a cabin in the nature.
Hemos estado trabajando mucho estos últimos meses y aunque ya tenemos una vacación planeada, no podíamos esperar mas para darnos un descanso. Así que decidimos pasar un fin de semana en una cabaña rodeados de naturaleza.
But we are not really outdoor and adventurous people, we have not surviving skills. If I have the ingredients and the tools, I can make fire and cook a nice meal. But I’m sure I can’t do that in the wilderness. That’s why we chose a nice all equipped cabin with people that can help I we need something. It’s like camping with training wheels.
Pero en realidad no somos personas aventureras, no tenemos habilidades de supervivencia. digo, si tengo los ingredientes y herramientas, puedo prender fuego y cocinas una buena comida. Pero no estoy seguro de poder hacer eso en medio de la nada. Así que por eso decidimos ir a una cabaña bien equipada y con gente que nos pudiera ayudar si es que surge algún problema. Es como acampar con rueditas de entrenamiento.
The adventure started before we arrived. The site was near a little town, but you need to cross a dirt and rocks road. And I need to add that we have a little Fiat 500. The road was not that complicated, we never got stuck, but we were almost praying in some sections. I'm almost sure that if it had rained hard, we would have had serious problems. Fortunately, it was not like that.
La aventura comenzó antes de que llegáramos. El lugar se encuentra muy cerca de un pequeño poblado, pero para llegar ahí, tienes que cruzar un camino de terracería. Cabe destacar que nosotros tenemos un pequeño Fiat 500. Aunque el camino no era tan complicado, nunca nos atascamos, pero en muchas secciones si estábamos con el Jesús en la boca jaja. Estoy casi seguro de que durante una lluvia fuerte, hubiéramos tenido severos problemas. afortunadamente, no fue el caso.
When we arrived, they help us get our stuff from the car to the cabin in a wheelbarrow. It was a short walk, but in a little dirt road up and down hill. So, the help was appreciated. The man explained us how they worked, how to ask for help and some rules. And that was it. They leave us on our own. They just left us wood for the bonfire, and we saw them until we left.
Al llegar nos ayudaron a sacar nuestras cosas del auto con una carretilla. Era una caminata corta, pero con subidas y bajadas en un camino de tierra y un poco de lodo. El señor nos explicó como funcionaba el lugar y nos dio algunas indicaciones como la manera de pedir ayuda si es que necesitamos algo. Y eso fue todo. Nos dejaron un poco de leña y no lo volvimos a ver hasta la salida.
The cabin was nicer than we imagine, it included a little kitchen, a nice comfy bed, a full bathroom with lukewarm water and a little living area.
La cabaña era mejor de lo que esperábamos, incluía cocina, una cama muy cómoda, baño completo con agua tibia y una área de estar.
On one side of the cabin, we had an area with a table, chairs with lights and a fire pit/grill just for us. And in front of the cabin there was a little river.
A un lado de la cabaña, había una pequeña área con mesas, sillas y un asador/fogata. y frente a la cabaña había un rio.
Then we put some charcoal on the grill and lit it to cook some shrimp burgers. Since we had everything we needed, cooking didn't take too long and we enjoyed our burgers surrounded by nature.
Luego pusimos algo de carbón en el asado y cocinamos una hamburguesas. Como teníamos todo lo necesario, pudimos hacerlo rápido y disfrutamos nuestras hamburguesas rodeados de naturaleza.
Penny Lane (our dog) took advantage of the pause to rest a little.
Mientras comíamos, Penny Lane (nuestra perrita), aprovecho para tomar una siesta.
Shortly after, the night came. And we made a fire camp with the wood they left us. The bonfire is very relaxing, you can just stare at the fire and the time flies.
Poco después, llegó la noche. Hicimos una fogata con la leña que nos dejaron. No se que tienen las fogatas que te relajan. Puedes quedarte viendo el fuego y el tiempo pasa volando.
Later in the night we made some smores. And went to sleep with the soundtrack of the river.
Pare terminar la noche hicimos unos smores con bombones calentados en la fogata, chocolate y galleta. Después nos retiramos a dormir con el sonido del rio.
The next day the sunshine wake us and I took Penny Lane for a short walk. Then we gave her breakfast and cook some chilaquiles for us.
Al siguiente día el sol nos despertó y salí con penny a caminar un poco. Luego nos hicimos unos tradicionales chilaquiles para desayunar.
We ate those chilaquiles in the outside table with some mimosas. And then we rest a little and took all the nature in.
Acompañamos nuestros chilaquiles con unas mimosas y luego reposamos un poco mientras contemplábamos la naturaleza que nos rodeaba.
Inside the cabin they left us a little book with the whole process of the creation of the cabins. They were designed by Rojkind and the process was really interesting. Here are some pictures of the booklet.
Dentro de la cabaña nos dejaron un pequeño libro con el proceso creativo del diseño de la cabaña. Fue diseñada por Rojkind y me pareció muy interesante todo el proceso. Les dejo algunas fotos del libro.
The cabin was a little difficult to capture from the outside, because it merges with the nature, but here is a little tour from the inside.
La cabaña era un poco difícil de fotografiar porque se mezclaba con la naturaleza. Pero les dejo un tour del interior.
At the end of the cabin you can find the bathroom. It was a full bathroom. You get the throne, a standing shower a little sink and another door with view of the nature.
Comenzamos con el baño. Tenía todo lo necesario taza, regadera y lavamanos. También tenía una puerta por la cual podías observar la naturaleza o salir.
Then just outside it was the kitchen. You get an electric kitchen, a sink, a minibar, dishes, pots, glasses, coffee maker, cutlery and almost everything you need. You even have a corkscrew.
Saliendo estaba la cocina y de igual manera incluía todo lo necesario: cocina eléctrica, fregadero, minibar, platos, ollas, vasos, cafetera, cubiertos y hasta un sacacorchos.
The if you make a 180 turn you see the door and some stairs that lead you to some kind of bunkbed.
Si girabas 180º podías ver la entrada principal y una escalera que subía hasta la cama. La cama se encontraba en un tapanco.
Here is a view of the bunk bed from the kitchen.
Así se veía el área de la cama desde la cocina.
And here is a view of the bed area.
Y así era el área de la cama.
You can also see the glass dome that runs along the cabin. It’s like a very long triangle.
También podrán observar el domo de vidrio que pasaba a todo lo largo de la cabaña. era de forma triangular.
If you stand up in the bed area you can see the kitchen and the bathroom from one side.
Si te parabas en el área de la cama, podias ver desde arriba el baño y la cocina.
On the other side you can see the door and the river.
Del otro lado podias ver la puerta y el rio.
Here is a view of the whole cabin from the entrance. Don't pay attention to our things scattered all around.
Esta es una vista completa del interior de la cabaña. No vean nuestro tiradero de favor.
And finally here is the entrance.
Y finalmente esta era la entrada.
They also gave us a map of all the premises. There were 14 cabins in total, some just like ours and some others with an A frame. We might return to meet the other ones.
También nos dejaron un mapa de la zona de cabañas. Había en total 14 cabañas, algunas eran iguales a la nuestra y otras con un marco en forma de A. Quizás regresemos a conocer las otras cabañas.
The we took a walk, there is a short path that passes by the cabins and at the end of the pad you can go out and explore around.
Dimos una caminata por el sendero que pasaba por todas las cabañas y al terminar el camino podías salir a explorar las zonas aledañas.
So we hit the road and explore the nature nearby. Here are some pictures:

After our hike, we return to the cabin and went down to the river.
Después de nuestra caminata, regresamos a la cabaña y bajamos al rio.
Penny Lane really enjoy it. She was hunting tree leaves floating by the river.
Penny Lane disfrutó mucho del rio. Se puso a atrapar las hojas que flotaban sobre el rio.
Then we got hungry, so we turned on the fire in the grill again. This time we made some shrimp skewers, quesadillas and some steak.
Luego nos dio hambre y en esta ocasión hicimos una brochetas de camarón, quesadillas y algo de carne.
We rested for a few hours with some wine and waited for the night to start the campfire. Penny Lane was really tired and took a nap by our side.
Descansamos por unas horas con algo de vino y esperamos la noche para prender la fogata. Penny Lane se cansó, así que decidió tomar la siesta junto a nosotros.
We made some smores again and waited for the fire to go out and went to sleep.
Esa noche también hicimos smores y esperamos a que se apagara la fogata para irnos a dormir.
The next day a squirrel woke me up because it was hanging by the dome, but I couldn’t take a picture of it. We took a quick breakfast and went for a walk. We returned to the cabin, prepare our stuff rest a little by the cabin.
Al siguiente día una ardilla me despertó porque andaba caminando sobre el domo y no pude tomar foto de ella. Desayunamos rápidamente y salimos de nuevo a caminar. Después regresamos a la cabaña, preparamos nuestras cosas y tomamos un descanso.
On our way home we stopped in Malinalco, a beautiful town near the cabins. And went for something to eat at a restaurant. And that was our adventure.
Antes de tomar nuestro camino a casa nos detuvimos en Malinalco, un pequeño pero lindo pueblo cerca de las cabañas. buscamos un restaurante y nos detuvimos a comer y ahi se terminó nuestra aventura.

Thank you for stopping by. Yes the cabin is really cool and very functional but maybe going up an down from the bed area is a little difficult.
Yes, I believe it, just as I was looking at the plans it occurred to me that I would certainly make a spiral staircase to the bed. In the evening it's probably ok to climb, but during the night if "nature" calls or in the morning before the first coffee, I wouldn't like to go down that ladder :)
