”The city that does not sleep". New York has a magic you’ll never find in another city in the world. To lose yourself in it is a pleasure that every person should experience even once in a lifetime. While they all have a charm that makes them unique and special, this American enclave surrounded by the Hudson River is different and mesmerizing. The air that is breathed, the atmosphere, the type of life, the variety, the architecture and even its history makes it stand out among all, not in vain is "the capital of the world". That qualifier suits it like a glove.

Siempre que visito Nueva York encuentro algo distinto, el ambiente siempre te recibe de forma diferente. A pesar de acudir de forma repetida a lugares muy puntuales en cada viaje (como el MET, Broadway, el puente de Brooklyn y el Central Parc) siempre descubres lugares nuevos, escondidos entre las luces de neón y los millones de transeúntes en las calles, llenos de ese embrujo especial que solo esta presente en esa ciudad.
Whenever I visit New York I find something different, the atmosphere always receives you differently. Despite going repeatedly to very specific places on each trip (such as the MET, Broadway, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Central Parc) you always discover new places, hidden between neon lights and the millions of passers-by in the streets, full of that special spell that is only present in that city.

Uno de mis viajes a Manhattan ocurrió pocos años después de la caída de Las Torres Gemelas. La ciudad estaba envueltan en una nostalgia y una tristeza que conmovía. El lugar donde alguna vez se habían levantando estas imponentes edificaciones estaba lleno de escombros. A pocos metros se construyó una pequeña capilla para honrar a las personas que habían fallecido en los atentados. El lugar desprendía una sensación de recogimiento que inspiraba respeto. Las velas encendidas le daban un toque sacramental a aquel recinto, que tocaba una fibra de dolor en todos los visitantes que acudían a ella. En las paredes habían guindado recuerdos y pertenencias de las víctimas, todavía ahora cuesta explicar con palabras adecuadas lo que aquel sitio despertaba. Era un santuario. Años después, en otro viaje me encontré con el monumento que se construyó en honor a todas esas personas. Unas elevadas torres custodian un inmenso rectángulo lleno de caídas de agua, bordeado con losas de un gris oscuro que llevan inscritos el nombre de todos los fallecidos. El agua fluye por aquel lugar limpiando los recuerdos y llenándonos de esperanza hacia la humanidad. Creo que aquel monumento es -sin duda- una forma majestuosa de honrarlos.
One of my trips to Manhattan occurred a few years after the fall of the Twin Towers. The city was enveloped in a moving nostalgia and sadness. The place where these imposing buildings had once stood was littered with rubble. A few meters away, a small chapel was built to honor the people who had died in the attacks. The place gave off a feeling of recollection that inspired respect. The lit candles gave a sacramental touch to that room, which struck a chord of pain in all the visitors who came to it. Memories and belongings of the victims had hung on the walls, yet it is still difficult to explain in proper words what that place was waking up to. It was a sanctuary. Years later, on another trip, I found the monument that was built to honor all those people. High towers guard an immense rectangle full of waterfalls, lined with slabs of a dark grey that bear the name of all the deceased. Water flows through that place clearing the memories and filling us with hope for humanity. I think that monument is undoubtedly a majestic way to honor them.

Nueva York es la cuna del arte (en todas sus representaciones), y un lugar por excelencia para Hollywood. En esa ciudad se han grabado algunas de las escenas más increíbles, románticas, divertidas y terroríficas del cine y la televisión. Ir por sus calles es perderte en historias que nos han acompañado a lo largo de los años (Friends, Felicity, Taxi driver, Cuando Harry conoció a Sally, Sexo en Nueva York, Superman, Seinfeld, Desayuno con diamantes, Ghost, El Padrino, Gremlins, Perfume de mujer, Mad Men, Succession, entre miles más) volteas el rostro y tu mente se pierde en películas y series. Es como estar todo el día en una escena, grabando momentos que solo revivirás tú. Es imposible no sentirte una actriz o un actor caminando por sus calles. Debo confesar que el Puente de Brooklyn es uno de mis lugares predilectos. No sé si es por la unión de Manhattan y Brooklyn, por las vistas o simplemente el sitio pero, me resulta imposible visitar NY y no pasar a verlo - o mejor dicho, admirarlo-. Me gusta el viento que sopla desde allí (a pesar de que siempre que he ido han sido en épocas de mucho frío), cerrar los ojos y respirar profundo. Si no lo has hecho recomiendo que te regales esos segundos, la energía que te impregna es tremenda.
New York is the cradle of art (in all its representations), and a place par excellence for Hollywood. In that city some of the most incredible, romantic, funny and terrifying scenes of cinema and television have been recorded. To go through its streets is to lose yourself in stories that have accompanied us over the years (Friends, Felicity, Taxi driver, When Harry Met Sally, Sex in New York, Superman, Seinfeld, Breakfast with Diamonds, Ghost, The Godfather, Gremlins, Perfume woman, Mad Men, Succession, among thousands more) You turn your face and your mind is lost in movies and series. It’s like being in a scene all day, recording moments that only you will relive. It’s impossible not to feel like an actress or an actor walking through its streets. I must confess, the Brooklyn Bridge is one of my favorite places. I do not know if it is by the union of Manhattan and Brooklyn, by the views or simply the site but, it is impossible for me to visit NY and not to happen to see it - or rather, admire it. I like the wind that blows from there (even though I have always gone in times of great cold), close my eyes and breathe deeply. If you have not done so I recommend that you give yourself those seconds, the energy that permeates you is tremendous.

Hay destinos imposibles de obviar en una visita a Manhattan, la zona financiera de Wall Street y su toro dorado es parada obligada. El ir y venir de personas con rostros estresados y serios vestidos con trajes, forman parte del diseño y no deja de resultar interesante. El distrito financiero es pilar fundamental de la economía mundial.
There are destinations that are impossible to miss on a visit to Manhattan, the financial area of Wall Street and its golden bull is a must-see. The coming and going of people with stressed and serious faces dressed in suits are part of the design and it is still interesting. The financial district is a fundamental pillar of the world economy.

El Rockefeller Center es simplemente…hermoso. No importa la época del año en que lo visites, siempre vale la pena, siempre es un buen plan y siempre te dejará la boca llena de placer. Para mi es un lugar con una carga de romance increíble. Ese debe ser el sitio de culto por excelencia para pedir matrimonio.
The Rockefeller Center is just... beautiful. No matter what time of year you visit, it is always worth it, it is always a good plan and will always leave your mouth full of pleasure. For me it’s a place with an incredible load of romance. That must be the ultimate place of worship to propose.
La Estatua de la Libertad, más que un monumento es un compromiso por la vida. Para llegar tanto a esa isla como a la de Ellis, debes tomar un ferry. En el lugar donde se levantaban Las Torres Gemelas había un diseño bastante grande del planeta tierra, esa inmensa bola de acero sufrió un fuerte impacto el día en que cayeron las torres; se abolló quedando lastimada. En vez de deshacerse de ella, decidieron transladarla de lugar conservando su historia a pesar de la lesión, ahora su semblante recordándonos lo ocurrido reposa en la plazoleta delante del terminal de ferrys. El paseo es muy agradable y hermoso de vistas, puedes ver cómo te vas alejando de Manhatann y acercándote a cualquiera de los dos islotes que desees visitar. Es increíble pensar que la isla de Ellis haya sido el sitio que recibió a tantos inmigrantes que buscaron un mejor porvenir. En su edificación se guardan los libros que firmaron todos los extranjeros que llegaron en barco por esa vía a Estados Unidos. Historias de aproximadamente doce millones de personas que el tiempo ha guardado para recordarnos que hay esperanzas a pesar de todo. El lugar es sobrecogedor. Es increíble imaginar todo lo que pasó por la mente en aquellas personas al llegar a esa isla: los miedos, las ilusiones, la felicidad, la tristeza al dejar a familiares atrás. Es un recordatorio la generosidad. Reconozco que al ver las imágenes de la Estatua de la Libertad en fotos y películas la imaginaba inmensa; sin embargo, aunque es alta, no era de la magnitud que pensé. De todas formas la escultura es muy bella. El lugar donde se encuentra esta rodeado de áreas verdes, espacios que invitan a sentarte y disfrutar del paisaje y de la vista en la distancia de Manhattan. A los pies de aquella dama la libertad de verdad, se disfruta. Encuentras donde comer , así es que puedes pasar un día entero sin problema en la isla que sostiene la llama de la libertad. Los ferrys llegan y salen con bastante regularidad, así es que apenas desees regresar, solo tienes que esperar el arribo del ferry y volver a la ciudad. El tiempo que pases depende de cada uno.
The Statue of Liberty, more than a monument, is a commitment to life. To get to both that island and Ellis, you must take a ferry. In the place where the Twin Towers were erected there was a quite large design of the planet earth, that immense steel ball suffered a strong impact the day the towers fell; it dented getting hurt. Instead of getting rid of it, they decided to move it away while preserving its history despite the injury, now his countenance reminding us what happened lies in the small square in front of the ferry terminal. The walk is very nice and beautiful views, you can see how you go away from Manhattan and approaching any of the two islets you want to visit. It is incredible to think that Ellis Island was the place that welcomed so many immigrants who sought a better future. In its construction are kept the books signed by all foreigners who arrived by boat on that way to the United States. Stories of approximately twelve million people that time has saved to remind us that there is hope in spite of everything. The place is overwhelming. It is incredible to imagine everything that went through the mind of those people when they arrived on that island: fears, illusions, happiness, sadness when leaving relatives behind. It’s a reminder of generosity. I recognize that when I saw the images of the Statue of Liberty in photos and films I imagined it immense; however, although it is high, it was not of the magnitude that I thought. Anyway the sculpture is very beautiful. The place where it is located is surrounded by green areas, spaces that invite you to sit and enjoy the landscape and the view in the distance from Manhattan. At the feet of that lady freedom is truly enjoyed. You find somewhere to eat, so you can spend a whole day on the island that holds the flame of freedom. Ferries arrive and depart quite regularly, so as soon as you want to return, you just have to wait for the arrival of the ferry and return to the city. How long you spend depends on each one

Otro de mis sitios favoritos es el Museo Metropolitano (MET), para los que amamos la pintura y la historia, este sitio es un tesoro incalculable. He ido en dos ocasiones y aún no he podido terminar de verlo completo. Te pierdes entre sus salas de cuadros, la zona egipcia y todo el placer que genera estar en medio de la cultura y el legado de tantas mentes geniales.
Another of my favorite places is the Metropolitan Museum (MET), for those of us who love painting and history, this place is an incalculable treasure. I've been twice and I still haven't been able to finish seeing it in full. You get lost among its painting rooms, the Egyptian area and all the pleasure generated by being in the middle of the culture and legacy of so many great minds
Broadway es ¡otro mundo!. Ya de por sí caminar por Times Square y su inmensa y famosa pantalla es una locura de experiencia. Las luces, los locales, todo es una mezcla electrizante de vida, vibras con una energía excitante, pero Broadway es adentrarse en una cara especial. Para los amantes de los musicales (como es mi caso y el de mi esposo), este sitio nos dejó con la boca abierta y sedientos de más. Vimos el musical “Jersey Boys” y es sencillamente ¡maravilloso!. Por lo general las personas asisten a los más famosos, a nosotros éste nos llamó la atención y confieso que valió la pena. Quien tenga la oportunidad de disfrutarlo, no se lo pierdan.
Broadway is another world! Walking through Times Square and its huge and famous screen is already a crazy experience. The lights, the venues, everything is an electrifying mix of life, you vibrate with an exciting energy, but Broadway is to enter a special face. For musical lovers (like me and my husband), this site left us speechless and thirsty for more. We saw the musical “Jersey Boys” and it is simply wonderful! In general, people attend the most famous ones, this one caught our attention and I confess that it was worth it. Whoever has the opportunity to enjoy it, do not miss.

La Catedral de San Patrick, la Biblioteca Pública, la seda de la ONU, El Barrio Chino, la Pequeña Italia, la Estación Central (famosa por todas las películas en que aparece y por su inmenso reloj que ocupa el centro de la estancia), La Torre Crysler, El Empire State, todo es increíble, incluso la simpleza de caminar por sus calles. Posiblemente necesitaría varios post para poder explicar qué es Nueva York y qué aporta al mundo, pero yo me quedo con la diversidad que encuentras en ella. Es ver personas de todos los países reunidos en un solo lugar, respetando la cultura de cada uno y haciendo común la torelancia. El encanto de Manhattan (y de hecho, de todo el estado de Nueva York) te hace reafirmar que en el mundo cabemos todos. Que con respeto podemos vivir y disfrutar de lo grandioso de cada cultura. Manhattan es el unión y el abrazo fraterno del mundo.
St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Public Library, the UN headquarters, Chinatown, Little Italy, Central Station (famous for all the movies it appears in and for its huge clock that occupies the center of the room), The Chrysler Tower, the Empire State, everything is incredible, even the simplicity of walking through its streets. Possibly I would need several posts to be able to explain what New York is and what it contributes to the world, but I prefer the diversity that you find in it. It is to see people from all countries gathered in one place, respecting the culture of each one and making tolerance common. The charm of Manhattan (and in fact, of the entire state of New York) makes you reaffirm that there is room for everyone in the world. That with respect we can live and enjoy the greatness of each culture. Manhattan is the union and the fraternal embrace of the world

Me resulta increíble la cantidad de cosas que hay y lo llamativo que es Nueva York, se ve que hay de todo para ver, visitar y disfrutar, sería más que un placer poder visitarla algún día! Aunque al menos de momento lo veo lejos Jajaja. Pero las ganas de conocerla y recorrerla sobran.
Es así como lo escribes, Nueva York es un mundo aparte dentro del mundo común. Los sueños se cumplen, seguro que podrás conocerla algún día. ;)
