Greetings of the day,
As soon as I moved away from the hustle and bustle of Ahmedabad, a slight coolness came over my mind. I don't know why, but while going towards Serkez Roza, it seemed as if the hustle and bustle of the city was slowly being left behind. The morning light was half spread, the air was moist, and the mind was almost ready to drown in peace. As soon as that big arch appeared in front of me-straight, calm-I felt for a moment as if I was standing on the threshold of an ancient time. Above it was written simply “Sarkhej Roza”, and below it was the name of Hazrat Sheikh Ahmed Khattu Ganj Baksh. The door had more impact than any grand building-saying more with less.

As soon as we went inside, the color of the sunlight falling on the ground had changed. The shadow of a person was moving forward-slow, steady. And just at that moment I felt that even the air here is different. As if someone had reduced all the sounds. The greenery of the trees in front and the old stone structure looked absolutely natural; As if this place is not unknown, it is already somehow familiar.

After moving a little further, when the pond was visible, the steps automatically stopped. The water was so calm that even the sky must have been descending on it only after thinking. The buildings of the city were visible in the distance, but out of the field-at the edge of the view-as if they were not meant for here. There was a small island in the middle, with some greenery on it, and water all around. For some time I felt as if I had entered an old picture. The row of domes along the pond and the birds perched on them-there was so much silence that the only sound was the slight rustling of the wind.

While walking inside Roza, my eyes got stuck at a corner. There were some parts of stone lying there – perhaps a broken wall, some boulder, a part of some grand gate. The figures, flowers, lattice motifs carved in them… all were so fine that a question immediately came to mind – what kind of patience and art must have been there in the hands who worked on these. These pieces were worn, the edges were clearly marked by time, yet they still had some kind of dignity left in them. As if they were holding many stories within themselves.

Then in one room there were books kept behind glass—old manuscripts, editions of the Quran, some words clear, some blurred. But every page was like a journey through time in itself. It felt strange just to think that the person writing these must have been inscribing these words in who knows what era and in what light. Preserving these texts is not only about protecting the heritage, but also about respecting the knowledge tradition that keeps burning like a silent flame inside people for generations.

As we moved ahead, we saw something written about Sheikh Ahmed Khattu Ganj Baksh. My mind slowed down a lot while reading about him. His teachings, his outlook, his impact on people—reading all this makes one realize that he was not just a spiritual guide but also a personality who shaped the social consciousness of his times. There was simplicity, humility and clarity in his words that touched the depth of the mind.

Every part of Roza says something. The soft echo under the domes, the cool breeze blowing in the corridors, the sound of birds sitting on the trees – all this together creates a silence that automatically soothes the mind. Many times it felt as if these old walls were also looking at us in their own way, understanding our tiredness.

While roaming around the entire campus, this trip was not a visit to any sightseeing place. It became a kind of experience—slow, quiet, deep. At some places it felt as if I had come out of today's time for a while and was standing in an old, peaceful world. The stillness of the pond, the shapes of the domes, the silent dignity of the manuscripts, and the Sufi fragrance in the air – all these filled the mind with some indescribable peace.

When I looked back at Roza while coming out, the sun had risen a little. The flags hanging on the door were swaying gently in the wind – like some unheard tune. At that moment it seemed that even in this fast-paced city, such a deep heritage is still alive quietly. For me, this place became not just “worth seeing”, but a moment that will be remembered again and again.

For anyone who loves history, art, culture or peace, Cerkes Rojas is not just a trip—an immersive experience. Its silence is its greatest beauty.
